Donald Trump's handling of that CR Resolution was a masterclass!!!

News flash. A CR is NOT intended to be an omnibus spending bill that keeps the government open. It is intended to keep the government open. THEN Congress can focus on the omnibus bills that provide whatever government will provide.

I was amazed when that 1400 page monstrosity of a CR bill was magically reduced to a pretty clean, mostly useful 120 page document displaying restraint and legislative responsibility and competence.

We have Donald J. Trump aided and abetted by his brilliant DOGE team, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy and responsible legislators to thank for that. Even all the House Democrats voted for it because it didn't remove the debt ceiling. Thirty Four Republicans voted against it because it didn't remove the debt ceiling and/or did not cut spending.

Trump as he is wont to do did not insist on the debt ceiling issue in order to get the compromise. So we'll have another ugly debt ceiling fight in March--something Trump hoped to avoid--and the Democrats and irresponsible Republicans will hope to be able to pad that with all kinds of expensive and unnecessary things. And the debt ceiling will likely be raised again as it always is. But there's a new Sheriff in town and a new way of doing things.

Some key points from the article:

". . .In the space of just a few days, Trump’s pressure on the Congress, including siccing his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) attack dogs Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on reckless spending, turned a 1,500 page monstrosity of a bill into a slim 120-page banger of basic necessities, including disaster relief and help for farmers. . ."

". . .(Speaker) Johnson believed that enough Republicans would simply sigh and go along with the continuing resolution that he negotiated with the Democrats, and there was some logic to allowing sleeping dogs to lie until Trump takes over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and Republicans take the senate in January.

But a funny thing happened on the way to the bill’s passage. At Trump’s behest, Musk and Ramaswamy began posting on X all the deep flaws of the legislation, and there were some doozies. . ."

". . .Within hours of the torrent of posts from the dynamic duo of DOGE, the American people began to wake up to what was in the bill and object. A trickle of GOP lawmakers flipped from yes to no on the bill, and with that, the stage was set for our soon-to-be commander in chief.

With the target softened, Trump tore into the bill, going so far as to threaten lawmakers who voted for it with primary challenges. Trump even indicated that Johnson’s speakership could be in doubt if he did not get in line. . ."

The rest is history. Perhaps it is just a blip in history but it signals that Trump is far more the President now than Biden is or ever was and emphasizes a bright new hope for a much better America.
You can’t be fucking serious!! Are you really that brain washed, or is it just stupidity. Or, maybe you think that you and Fox News can gaslight us with this inane codswallop. Trump got his ass kicked and was sent packing with his tail between his legs. Meanwhile his fuck buddy and shadow president ,Elon Musk, is sucking up all of the oxygen in the room.

What Trump's Decision To Wade Into Spending Fight Tells Us About The Next 4 Years

WASHINGTON (AP) — After days of threats and demands, Donald Trump had little to show for it once lawmakers passed a budget deal in the early hours of Saturday, narrowly averting a pre-Christmas government shutdown.

The president-elect successfully pushed House Republicans to jettison some spending, but he failed to achieve his central goal of raising the debt limit. It demonstrated that despite his decisive election victory and frequent promises of retribution, many members of his party are still willing to openly defy him.

Trump’s decision to inject himself into the budget debate a month before his inauguration also showed that he remains more adept at blowing up deals than making them, and it foreshadowed that his second term will likely be marked by the same infighting, chaos and brinksmanship that characterized his first.

All Republicans, and even the Democrats, should do what is best for our Country, and vote “YES” for this Bill, TONIGHT!” Trump wrote Thursday, before a vote on a version of the bill that included a higher debt limit. Instead, 38 Republicans voted no. It was a stunning brush-off to Trump, whose power over his party has at times seemed near-absolute.

All of that was organic....To this very moment, I've seen no post where either made any call to action.

The shitposters and memelords took it all upon themselves.
A CR bill is not a call to action. Or it isn't supposed to be. It is a meaningless exercise to keep government open after a meaningless debt limit is reached. Meaningless because they will ALWAYS override it.

To reduce 1500 pages full of indefensible and unconscionable pork to mostly the bare necessities in less than 48 hours was an impressive feat. The Democrats are now done for the year and can do no more damage at least with new spending. And Trump, DOGE and the rest of the team can get to work to right the financial ship beginning even before the inauguration the first week in January when the GOP will control the House and the Senate. And Trump will have an important effect on any omnibus or other spending that they authorize.

I did bother to check and there was no false information.
Like when he claimed it was funding for a stadium that wasn’t actually in there? Or when he claimed there was a 40% pay increase when there wasn’t? Even the part about subpoenas was mostly inaccurate.

You didn’t check anything.

You do realize Trump endorsed the final bill yes? And even the Democrat controlled Senate capitulated and passed it. Biden or whoever is speaking for Biden agreed to sign it. Just because Trump didn't get everything he wanted is not failure. He got the great bulk of what he wanted. It is called effectively doing business.

The PASOTUS didn't understand that, he thought it is intended to force congress to remove potential political embarrassments for him.

LOL....Gaslighting? Really? :laughing0301:

Bullshit!! If he endorsed it, and I don't know that for a fact, it was because he had to in order to save face. He got nothing and now he knows he is not king
