I was in Anchorage in 1992 when Mt Spurr erupted. & we watched a giant wall of black clouds/ash cover the sky & roll towards us.
It ended up blanketing the whole town with a thick layer of gray ash.
It can cause damage to engines because it gets sucked in & the grit can ruin them.

Hopefully, these volcanoes go back to sleep. They can release more crap into the atmosphere in moments than the entire human race produces in a year
