Muslim staff at a care home stopped residents eating pork because it was against their religion, a report has found.
Staff at Wagtail Close in Buttershaw, Bradford were told to improve their service after an unannounced inspection found they had restricted elderly residents from eating bacon sandwiches, sausages and pork pies because of their own cultural beliefs.

In one example, a patient who liked to have a bacon sandwich for breakfast every morning and bought sausages and pork pies when they went out shopping, said a number of staff would not help them buy or cook these products.

“This meant that staff were not providing support that was responsive to the person’s preferences and were restricting the person’s right to choice. The person said they had raised their concern with senior staff members but nothing had been done about it,” the report said.

If you go into a Jewish deli, they won't have ham or pork chops, and all their food is kosher, but customers have a choice to go somewhere else to eat ham and pork.

These Muslims are taking away pork from old people who don't have options to go elsewhere to eat.

What they are doing is acting like their dietary mandates apply to everyone, even people who aren't Muslims.

During Lent, Catholics aren't allowed to eat meat on Fridays. The fast food places accommodate that by having fish meals, but non-Catholics can still have meat.

This is a country where many denominations and religions have learned to live with another, without the usual hatred of other religions that we see in other countries.

Muslims are not cooperating with the delicate balance between being faithful to your religion, and yet allowing other people to practice their own faith.

A Catholic has no right to tell Protestants to eat fish on Friday, Jews have no right to tell Catholics they can't eat ham on Easter, and Protestants have no right to tell Catholics or Jews that they must eat food that their faith has prohibited to them.

If Muslims can't figure out how to get along with the rest of us, then they need to leave.
