I was just reading a column by Ezra Klein, and I flashed back on something I saw on teevee a few months ago. Klein, a consistent, dependable and articulate advocate of liberal issues, was one of two or three people being interviewed on MSNBC on split screen. The conversation went something like this:
MSNBC Host: So tell me Ezra, what is your opinion of (whatever the topic is)?
Klein: Well, I'm a journalist, I can provide information, but I don't want to give an opinion.
MSNBC Host: Oh, yes, of course, that's not an appropriate question....
It was at that point that I laughed, shook my head, turned off the teevee and went on a hike.
