I'm glad it isn't just me. Been thinking about my gut instinct of thinking they need help....but I keep going back in my mind of our own troops, struggling, denied medical care due to lousy VA's, starving children HERE in the usa, people going without and trying to survive HERE in the usa, etc etc etc.

So, with that said...yeah. I am with most of those on FB that think its a bad idea to do a damn thing.

I always think about what is going on here, especially the homeless people living on the streets. I see them all the time pushing their shopping cart, and at times give them $5 or so to go to a fast food restaurant.

I'm sure they appreciate the money, they can get alcohol or drugs.

Have you ever thought that they might be hungry? No one is asking you to give them money. Many of our homeless have mental problems like schizophrenia and don't know they can go to clinics for meds.

I don't give them money. I get them a sandwich and a soda pop while in the store. If they have a dog with them, I get the dog a can or two of dog food. Never do I give them money.

Grace, if I see a homeless guy or woman pushing a cart while driving my car, it is just easier to hand them money than to take them to a store. If I even stopped to take them in my car, what would they do with the cart? I certainly can't get that in the trunk of the car.

I don't stop and let homeless people in my car, Sally. That would be stupid and possibly dangerous. If I see someone outside the store with a sign asking for money, I buy them food and hand it to them. I would NEVER put a homeless person in my vehicle.

I rarely see them anyway. There is one guy that stands in front of the market with a sign. I give him NOTHING. Junky. Has a twin. They take turns begging.

That's what ill do. No cash, food.

The mental issues are why you don't give them money. They usually use money to self medicate. You are hurting them and not helping them.

OK,. the next time I am in Burger King and see a homeless guy chomping down on a burger, I will tell him he should have used the money for drugs and alcohol. Listen, even these homeless guys enjoy a Whopper every now and then. They can't go without food for very long.

Where did I say anything of what you said, give them money, I don't care I won't. I will give them food, I'll treat to Burger King if that is what you want. I am not going to enable them or their addictions.

Perhaps I have more faith that a man or a woman who is starving will use the money for food before they pass out from starvation.

My experience tells me different. Take care.

Americans Inclined to Ban Syrian Refugees, But Not All Muslims
December 23, 2015 - A new survey has found that while a majority of Americans would ban Syrian refugees from the country, most disapprove of "banning people who are Muslim from entering the U.S.," as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has proposed.
The Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday found 51 percent of people oppose allowing Syrian refugees to enter the U.S.; 43 percent support the policy. The Obama administration is planning to accept at least 10,000 Syrian refugees into the U.S. over the next year. At the same time, two-thirds of those polled were against Trump's proposal to ban all Muslims from the U.S. Seventy-nine percent of Democrats said they oppose the proposed ban, as did 51 percent of Republicans and 67 percent of independent voters. "American voters are making a distinction between Syrian refugees and Muslims in general," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

The poll also found 52 percent of U.S. voters support sending ground troops to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria while 40 percent oppose such a plan. But only 27 percent of those surveyed say the U.S. should be leading the fight against the jihadist militants, while 66 percent say the U.S. should be part of a coalition, not in the lead. On the domestic front, most poll participants were "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about climate change, with 69 percent saying they would like to see the next president support policies to combat global warming.

Americans were more evenly divided on the issue of U.S. gun laws. Even though 55 percent said it is "too easy" to buy guns in the United States, 50 percent of those polled opposed stricter gun laws, with 47 percent supporting them. The Quinnipiac University poll surveyed 1,140 registered voters between December 16 and 20, with a 2.9 percentage point margin of error.
