Fans "boo" moment of national unity

The fans have every right to peacefully protest then have that protest peacefully shoved down their metaphorical throats.

The old days are gone forver.
By the same token, the players and the league have every right to peacefully protest then have that protest peacefully shoved down their metaphorical throats. The old days are still here.
Only the fool thugs of the Trump right think that.

Think what? I made two comments; which one are you referring to?

In any case, either side has the right to peacefully protest and either side has the right to disagree and express it. Both sides have and both sides will continue to do so. So "The old days are gone forver [sic]" is not quite apt.

The Trump right thugs do not get that Real America does not want them dissing the players calling for national unity.

But they will.
The players don't grasp that the people who pay their salaries want to watch sports...not be preached to about racism! If the fans don't watch. The advertisers don't pay the big bucks. The Networks don't fight to hand the NFL truckloads of cash. The whole house of cards comes tumbling down.

What do these meatheads want ? A protest to celebrate inequality ?

I'm not a sports fan myself, but my guess would be is that what they want is to be able yo enjoy watching a football game without a bunch of irrelevant and offensive political bullshit being injected into it.

"Peaceful protest". That's what Trump and his supporters claim they wanted. You are showing that was another lie.

We are happy that the players managed to not attack the fans.

We still are unhappy that they are insulting the nation and it's citizens, at a sporting event.

That you find this confusing, is because of problems in your head, not ours.

There we go. You were offended over a show of unity. As I said.........not happy.

When you support the narrative that the nation is systemically wacist, you insult the nation and it's citizens, at least the white ones.

Doing that, is not a "show of unity" but a divisive political statement and an insult to the fans.

None of those fans, should ever return to that stadium.

Don't. That's their right. Telling others to shut up though is not.

Correct. The League has the Right to say what they want.

If they want to insult the nation and it's citizens, and their fans, that is their right.

Nothing I said, indicated that I thought they should be deprived of their right to speech.

My point was, that the op was wrong. The fans were not booing a "show of unity" but booing a divisive political statement that was very insulting to them.

Would you like to address my comment about the op? Or is that not the type of shit that interests you?

It's sad that you see unity as political.

Who were the ones who made it political first by kneeling or remaining in the locker room for the National Anthem?

You can't have it both ways. If you're going to bring attention to an injustice with political speeches and gestures then you can't very well complain if the response to that is political.

Do you have any clue when it was that Kaepernick started kneeling? 9/16 under Obama. He was sitting before that, under Obama.

And? Kaepernick conveyed his disdain for America when he started kneeling. Whoever is/was the current sitting president is irrelevant.

I didn't see politics mentioned at all last night. Did you?

Whatever happened last night, you made the discussion political when you brought up Trump and his supporters.

I quote: "Peaceful protest'. That's what Trump and his supporters claim they wanted. You are showing that was another lie."

You made it political before Correll did.

What did I say wrong there? The accusations was that last night's show of unity was political. Point it out.

Problem is, you made your remark about Trump and his supporters BEFORE Correll made his remark about the display being a political statement.

I did. That doesn't make the display political.

If the display was not political then what did it have to do with Trump or his supporters?

I explained that.

You explained what it had to do with Trump? When?

I don't believe you've explained anything. What you did was assume that all the booers and those who support them are Trump supporters and in turn assume that they booed because they're Trump supporters.

There are two primary reasons people are criticizing these displays:

1.) They do not agree that expressing disdain for your country is the right way to highlight an injustice.

2.) They do not want to see or hear social justice displays or speeches or alternative anthems when they came to watch a sports event.

As for peaceful protests, conservatives want peaceful protests and they are right to do so. This does not mean they want to see a protest at a football game, even if it is peaceful.

By all means, protest peacefully. But keep it in the streets where it belongs (but not blocking traffic).

The NFL approved it so it belongs. All the same you don't have to get permission to protest.

The anti-America far right don't get this is about doing the right thing.

Those far right thugs no longer represent the majority of America, their white privilege no longer rules America.

These thugs are disrespecting all of the grand sacrifices made by Americans of all colors for an America better than that of 1945.

So screw these wankers. They don't have to watch NFL. The players don't want them watching. Real America which is now the great majority of America does not want them watching.

These thugs just don't count anymore.
The left doesn't doesn't get that this is about doing the wrong thing. Disrespecting the flag by trying to make some silly-ass partisan political statement at a time set aside to honor the Nation is a direct insult to real Americans and especially those Americans of all colors who actually sacrificed and died to make and keep this nation a land of the free. These pampered twerps with their gold plated lavish wealth and lifestyles won't understand sacrifice until they are broke and out of a job which is exactly where their posturing will lead them. And rightly so.
We happen to have an election coming up. It will reveal who the "real Americans" are. I'll save you some tissues.

The incident was particularly striking because it was meant as a show of unity rather than any kind of protest with players, both black and white, linking arms.

“Some NFL fans booing the players for standing and locking arms in a moment of silent unity proves that for them the ‘standing for the flag’ was always about perpetuating white supremacy,” wrote Kansas City councilman Eric Bunch on Twitter.

I can think of 2 things...the most reasonable answer is that a large number of people just don't want to be reminded of injustice and everything -- they watch the game for an escape from all that.....they claim......

However, another reason could be that there isn't enough inequality in the country today....maybe a nice lynching to start the game will bring viewers back

If you're out there listening, Roger Goodell...let me make this as simple as I can! If I turn on a game to watch football and see politics instead...I'm turning the channel. I did it last night and I'll continue to do it. The fact of the matter is that I don't "need" the NFL...but the NFL needs me! So think long and hard before you FUBAR a good thing!

The fact that Twitter blew up over this isn't so important.

Why doesn't Roger Goodell lift the season tickets of those in the crowd showing disrespect for BLM and Antifa?

They can see on video who is booing, and they know where everyone was supposed to be sitting.

On what pretense could he do that?

I would bet every red cent I have that showing respect for BLM and Antifa wasn't a required condition to purchase a season ticket for ANY NFL team. Besides, it wouldn't be up to Goodell, it would be up to the individual teams.

I was called a racist yesterday because I mentioned that I didn't renew my Jaguars season tickets because of all this BLM bullshit.

Just shut the fuck up, play the fucking game and earn your money.

If I espoused my political views on the job my boss would fire me in a New York minute...

It was essentially a vocalization of why Trump is in the White House right now.
President Trump is in the White House because the American people elected him President. You have a problem with the American people?
I think you have a comprehension problem.
If so I'm sure it is nowhere as bad as your own.

Yup, racism is so American that when you protest it, folks think you are protesting America......I suggest those folks learn what true patriotism is....

they can take their cues from these men.....probably the most patriotic Americans who ever lived...because they believed in America more than America believed in itself....

Nowadays, people won't even wear a mask to protect someone else because of their "liberties" -- but these brave men went half way around the world to liberate Europeans while not even being liberated back at home....and those men didn't complain -- they just shut up and waited until America was nice enough to treat them equally...because that is how you fight for your rights....quietly and making sure not to make anyone else uncomfortable..

I'm curious, Biff...what do you think Martin Luther King would say if he could see Black Lives Matter in action?

You can speak for yourself, but who granted you the power and ability to speak for others?

"On a field bordered with the words “End Racism” and fans booing as players from both teams linked arms before kickoff in a sign of solidarity with those fighting social injustice, the ratings and viewership decline could be an ominous sign for a league and the networks."

Apparently NFL fans were insulted by the NFL's virtue signaling with the assumption that fans are racist. Note that the article in my link is blaming COVID for the dismal drop in viewership.

/----/ Let me try to dumb it down even more for Tommy to understand.
Pick your favorite movie series. But let's say, for argument's sake, it's James Bond. You anxiously await each new film and manage to get to the theatre to see the first showing. You plop down your $15, or whatever you pay, buy your popcorn and soda, and settle in your favorite section. The anticipation builds for the opening scene which is always filled with action and Bond barely escaping with his life.

But instead of the movie, each actor takes turns lecturing you about how mean, evil, greedy, and racist you are, then they exit the screen. The lights go on and the announcer says, "Ladies and Gentlemen, that concludes our presentation. You must all exit the nearest door and thank you for attending today's presentation.

So Tommy, how would that make your feel? Angry or completely passive at being ripped off like a good little socialist?

The league and the players are out of touch with the people....lets face it...they are wealthy beyond their dreams and all they have to do is play the game they love....they don't remember or even know what its like to work your ass off all week getting mistreated by the world only to come home on Monday night and click on the game to escape your day and see these spoiled rotten players throwing their politics in your face with their finger in your chest....no way man.....its not worth it....sing your black national anthem and and go fuck yourselves....

Of course they are. The white privilege cultural imperative of 1975 is gone.

They're not calling for national unity, they're calling for people to join their social justice religious cult.
The nation should (and will become) unified behind the 'social justice' call for civil liberties for all Americans, Ghost, even for your ilk.
