That was one of Karl Marx's original principles. He saw traditional marriage and family as part of the “bourgeois” society that he wanted to eradicate, and advocated for a more collectivist variant on “free love”, where people would form no permanent marital relationships or families, and society as a whole would take collective responsibility for raising children, rather than leaving that responsibility to the parents.

Somewhere early on, the anti-family faction separated from Marxism; and went on its own course, while Marxism tried to progress without it; and the two movements became separate and unrelated.
