The issue isn't about being in the military. It's about going to Vietnam. Blumenthal did everything he possibly could to avoid that possibility and then lied about it.

"Reserve" is the operative word.

There were very few Reserve or Guard in Nam. More Guard
than Reserve. But it was not like the present day military
back then. Today, Reserve and Guard Units are deployed
regulary to hot spots. They weren't back then. We still had
a draft in those days.

The issue is simple. If you ask a Vietnam Vet what they think
of someone who lies about having served there, you will not
like their reply/.

And it is ironic, how the libs made fun of W, because he was in
the Guard, but now toast this lying piece of shit, Blumenthal.
