For the beer lovers.

What if the imported beer is of a higher quality? Not to put too fine a point on it. Belgian beers have a tradition that pre-dates the discovery of the New World and have some unique favor profiles. Profiles not matched by your local brewery.

we brew better than the euro's could ever dream of doing

Really? You think so? I have to say that I'm not all that impressed with what I've tasted in the US. Don't get me wrong it's not horrible perse. Except for the lagers which to me have no flavor whatsoever. But in my experience, and I do have experience American beer has some way to go. Especially when it comes to body and complexity.

What is Belgian Style ale? I've seen that monicker on anything from white beers all the way to the Trappist style beers. Things that are so wide apart flavor wise that they might be different beverages altogether.

my husband loves that stuff.
It's perfect. When you make your own, you can control the amount of alcohol in it and flavor it any way you want.

Relatively inexpensive if you have any apiaries nearby, and you can make it in small batches.

Patience is a requirement, however. To get the best flavors, sis months of conditioning after final fermentation is standard.

there's a place near where i live that is a meadery - dude who makes it is really into the renaissance

I dont like the dark heavy beers
Agree. I hate 'em. With a passion.

During Lent, back in the Middle Ages, Monks would drink Dark Beer because it was/is laden with yeast, malt and other nasties because they couldn't eat for -- What? Thirty days?? So they'd drink that nasty-assed dark beer. The breweries would cooperate and clean their Vats around that time because the dark beer was at the bottom along with the dead rats and bugs :dunno: Tastes like it, too

Never was a big fan of palm myself. My dad drank it a lot though.

This is one of my favorites. Especially on tap. Drinks easy but has a very full body to it.

Does he sell ot the local faire, do you know? A lot of them do, but it pays to have your own bees or be in business with a beekeeper.

true - but i was thinking more along the lines of bud & busch kinda beer.
Can't say I like any of those that I've tried. Not that I've tried them all that much. Since every time I did they came off tasting flat at the end.

alright - somebody had to post it - might as well be me...

i believe he does. there is an annual faire held here in CT

connecticut renaissance festival hebron - Google Search
Nice. That is a great niche for a Meadery. Lots of Meade sold at those faires. I've purchased My fair share at the Pennsylvania and New York Renaissance festivals.
