George Zimmerman's Bond Revoked

Why is this in politics?

For the Love of God

Would you people who start threads on government healthcare and threads on Traynor Martin put them in the appropriate forums? For the last two days I've spent 75% of my time moving threads to the proper forums. Not everything is political! ...........................................................................................................................................................................

Lots of people have two passports. I'm entitled to Irish and British passports - if I chose to. I don't - because I am an American. My conscience won't allow me to hold a passport from a country to whom I hold no allegiance.

I think he was in possession of two US passports, not two passports from two different countries.

But, somehow, someway, this has something to do with CG!

Did you know she has two passports?

I wouldn't blame him for going.

So you support people running from justice.

He was tried and convicted by Al Sharpton and the left wing media. There's no chance he'll get a fair shot in the US.

No, they wanted a trial...they are getting one (finally). How much have YOU heard from Al Sharpton since the justice system FINALLY stepped up?

lied about his finances and lied about his passport

He is now established as a person who will lie to the courts.

His aliby is even more specious now

I think that he handed over the passport that was about to expire and two weeks later received his new passport and didn't say anything about it. That seems to be pretty immaterial, it's that he didn't tell the court that he had a substantial defense fund. His bail was paid by bond, his parents really did put their house up to secure the bond. The judge seems to be doing some serious reaching to come to his politically expedient ruling. Had Zimmerman used his donated defense funds to make bail, that would have been some outright fraud since the money never really belonged to him but was given with the understanding it was to go to pay for his defense. Had he used that money for bail, he undoubtably would have been ordered to surrender and prosecuted for fraud.

I remember when all the libturds gathered on the overpassess and cheered OJ on as he fled.. ha ha,, from the police.. I'm gonna cheer Zimmerman on too, cause he doesn't stand a chance in the US.

Nope,, they tried him and convicted him.. and the NBP put a bounty on his head.. What's been done about that? Not a goddamn thing. that's what.

Hell NO,, this is a liberal thread.

According to the article he surrendered his passport, which was about to expire, but did not tell the court that he'd already applied for another one (telling the State Department that he lost it) . It also sounds as if he had already received the other one and it was in his safe deposit box and NOT surrendered to the court.

It sounds as if he lied both to the court and to the State department.

It's not exactly a 'lie'.... he was ordered to surrender his passport, which he did. Did they ask or check to see whether he'd applied for a replacement? There is paperwork on these things - it could have been checked. Having said that, it does seem a tad suspicious.

I have no real opinion as to his guilt or innocence - I can see why he might, with the vitriolic media about him - consider running... I might have done the same in his position.
Take the cowards way out?

so why did he not inform his Defense Lawyer he had the money ??? and let his parents mortgage their home to pay for his bail - -

first thought on Z's mind does not seem to be it was not his money ...

Once again Zimmerman is assumed guilty before any trial. I'll wait until the whole story comes out.

When he was asking for donations on his website, he asked for money for both defense and living expenses.

When you renew a passport about to expire, the old one is sent in with the renewal paperwork. Then it is sent back with the new one.

Nice thought though.

Except for the fact that lying about assets as it pertains to a bond hearing is a criminal offense and this case would be a felony (since the charge of the hearing is a felony).

"'Any person who intentionally provides false or misleading material information or intentionally omits material information in connection with an application for bail or for modification of bail is guilty of a misdemeanor or felony which is one degree less than that of the crime charged for which bail is sought, but which in no event is greater than a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083."

Some of the factors to determine eiligiblity for bail and the amount of bail are:

"(2) When determining whether to release a defendant on bail or other conditions, and what that bail or those conditions may be, the court shall consider:
(a) The nature and circumstances of the offense charged.
(b) The weight of the evidence against the defendant.
(c) The defendant’s family ties, length of residence in the community, employment history, financial resources, and mental condition."

903.035 - Applications for bail information provided hearing on application for modification penalty for providing false or misleading information or omitting material information. - 2011 Florida Statutes - The Florida Senate
903.046 - Purpose of and criteria for bail determination. - 2011 Florida Statutes - The Florida Senate

His bail was paid by bond, his parents really did put their house up to secure the bond. The judge seems to be doing some serious reaching to come to his politically expedient ruling. The original account was never setup as a trust, he had direct access to the funds and his web page (since taken down) explicitly said it would be used for other expenses such as living expenses.

"I have created a Paypal account solely linked on this website as I would like to provide an avenue to thank my supporters personally and ensure that any funds provided are used only for living expenses and legal defense, in lieu of my forced inability to maintain employment. "

From the OP link:
"In the conversations Zimmerman and his wife speak in code -- reducing the amounts in their financial accounts by a factor of 1,000. Prosecutors said the couple knew that their jailhouse conversations were likely being recorded.

Zimmerman is accused of tracking down and killing teenager Trayvon Martin, who caught the attention of the neighborhood watch captain in his gated Florida community.

The new documents show that Zimmerman had $135,000 in his bank account the day before his bail hearing -- in which he declared himself financially indigent."

George Zimmerman's Bond Revoked - ABC News

SANFORD, Fla., June 1, 2012
The judge in the George Zimmerman second-degree murder trial revoked his bond today and ordered him to surrender himself in 48 hours.

Prosecutors had filed a motion today seeking to revoke his bond and accusing Zimmerman of "deceiving" the court about his finances and his possession of a second passport, which he apparently acquired two weeks after the shooting.

In recordings of conversations released today during a court hearing, Zimmerman and his wife cryptically talk about his second passport in a safety deposit box they shared.
<more>

Who?

????

Do you mean "who was deceived?" It appears to be the Florida court as under Florida Law applicants for bail are required to divulge their financial situation at the bail hearing which is a crime charged one degree lower then initial charge. In this case the Charge is Murder 2, so lying to obtain bail would be a felony 3.
