Governors: Looming cuts threaten economic gains | General Headlines | Comcast

We should go back and remember that sequestration was originally designed by both the administration and Congress as something so odious, so repellent, that it would force both sides to a compromise. There can't be any question, this is something that nobody wants," said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat.

Obama has stepped up efforts to tell the public about the cuts' negative impact and pressure Republicans who oppose his approach of reducing deficits through a combination of targeted savings and tax increases. House Republicans have said reduced spending needs to be the focus and have rejected the president's fresh demand to include higher taxes as part of a compromise.

Governors said they are asking the Obama administration for more flexibility to deal with some of the potential cuts.

"We know that the cuts are coming, but we also don't want to suffer disproportionately," said Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, a Democrat and chairman of the National Governors Association.

"We're just saying that as you identify federal cuts and savings, allow the states to be able to realize those savings, too," said Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican and the association's vice chairwoman. "Give us the flexibility to be able to make the cuts where we think it will be the less harm to our citizens."

Not one of these clowns know what a budget is or living within your means. These leeches are feeding off the taxpayers , its always just give me a little more.Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat is one of the biggest money wasting Obama butt lickers there is,just give more entitlements, and spend money that does not exist, now there like rats in a cage ........

It was odious and repellent when it was passed. obama's spending is now so out of control, sequestration isn't a big deal today.

Targeted savings? Is that code for invisible?

What the hell are you red staters worried about concerning sending money to Washington, anyway? All you do slop at the trough and never contribute a thing.

Blue state, red face: Guess who benefits more from your taxes?

Adding to this fallacy are the assumptions surrounding Mitt Romney’s now infamous comments about the indolent “47 percent” of Americans who regard themselves as victims and therefore pay no taxes. As the American Conservative magazine (no less) pointed out recently, nine of those 10 states are in the red-as-ruby Old Confederacy.*

Put another way, again by the American Conservative, “On the other hand, eight of the ten states with the highest non-payment rates are solidly Republican. The exceptions are New Mexico and Florida.”

Its your fought ,oh no its your fought - When is wash going to learn if you have a dollar thats all you can spend .:cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

A reduction in growth is now "odious and repellant' to our politicians.

Think about that people.

Well if Sequestoring goes down it will be the RED STATES that suffer the greatest economic losses because it is the RED STATES where most military bases are located.

Ha! Republicans don't want more taxes, don't want the cuts, don't want to continue running a deficit.

Insanity.

No, it's not insane. They don't want the President Obama yoke around their throat.

It's there regardless and they don't like it so they're forcing President Obama to do it all from the White House.

He's spending like crazy and he's not too concerned about the deficit. He believes that the strength of the US economy can handle all of this turbulence.

That's why it should happen. That way the Republicans will have to bargain for the spending they want restored.

How is it these liberal clowns consider overspending 4 billion a day is an economic gain ?:cuckoo::cuckoo:

Why the hell do people like you complain about this when you continue to vote for it every single election?

There's an easy solution to that problem: simply put an end to the programs that all the "red-staters" are feeding on. If you don't want to do that, then shut the fuck up.

The later statement doesn't contradict the former. Take a course in logic.

Put another way, again by the American Conservative, “On the other hand, eight of the ten states with the highest non-payment rates are solidly Republican. The exceptions are New Mexico and Florida.”

What the fuck is a "non-payment rate?" Are you accusing people in red-states of not paying their taxes?

BTW, moron, a larger percentage of those people in red-states you accuse of being freeloaders are blacks and Hispanics.

You just proved that you're a racist.

They already bargained. They gave Obama tax increases at the beginning of the year.
