It never fails. Every year a number of students react very negatively to even the mention of Halloween. Their parents have some foolish notion of Halloween being literally about the devil and whatnot. It's kind of annoying, and the children of those kids will be out trick or treating like everyone else in a decade or so.

The parent's of the kids are correct in teaching them that Halloween is an ancient satanic celebration.

I had a youth group in a very legalistic church who had a fit because I didn't forbid the kids from trick or treating. I didn't forbid them because to the kids, it was Free Candy Day. Just like it was when I was a kid.
It is no more celebrating the dead than Easter is a fertility festival, or that Christmas is actually Saturnalia.
