Harrison Ford was airlifted to hospital today after injuring himself on the set of the latest Star Wars film.

The actor, 71, was filming at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire when a hydraulic garage door fell and hit him.

Ford – who is reprising his role as the buccaneering Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII – was treated by medics after he fell to the ground and was stretchered onto a helicopter.

The air ambulance took him to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, which has a trauma unit that specialises in fractures.

It is thought he fractured his ankle and is awaiting results of further tests to see if he suffered injuries to his chest.

It is not yet known how long the star will take to recover, although producers insisted shooting would continue as planned.

So they were filming in a garage and the light saber signaled the garage door to close....

Wow. Must be some kinda seriously heavy garage door.

Then again, it could prolly be made of balsa wood and knock him out cold anymore.

I hope they got it on film, they can photo shop it into the movie...

I agree that he is too old for this stuff. Great actor, but not one of my favs. Still..I would hate to see him hurt doing a movie when he could have used a double.

He'll be fine. He literally went through the grinder for the Indiana Jones movies, what with all the stunts, falls, fights, gunfire, high speed chases ...etc). I recall he did a good portion of his own stunts. An incident with a garage door pales in comparison.

Apparently it was the door to the Millenium Falcon that got him. Chewie should have hurried up with that hydrospanner :lmao:

Yes, they should have used me. Not only do I look like him, but I can handle the stunts, since I of course can act, and am a professional stunt man.
Yeah, that's it.
