Let's be clear. The reason government gives funds and special perks out in the first place is to extend their power. Then they can use the funding as a way to twist arms when it suits them - just like Trump is doing now. It's the same game as the tax exemption for religious institutions. The church exemption isn't granted to "help" anyone, least of all churches. It's there so that the state has leverage over churches or religious leaders who get too powerful, especially if that power translates to political activism.

I hope Harvard holds the line and tells Trump to fuck himself. Regardless, the situation highlights the "deal with the devil" that these institutions are making when they accept government money. Maybe we'll learn something... nah, who am I kidding?

1) I would say protecting our rights, requires Govt to run society...Govt provides us with law enforcement to do those things...Govt provides us with a legislature, to pass the laws...those legislatures are made up of people we elect....thus maintaining the power with the people.

2) You want to cut those programs completely? I think that's rather silly. They do a lot of good, but not every college or institution is entitled to them. How's it pathetic for Govt to try and leverage someone or some place? Govt is made up of the people. Does Govt not have an interest in making sure that Jewish students are threatened and harassed? Or that women aren't discriminated against?
