This poll of American blue collar workers was commissioned by Express Employment Professionals and conducted by the Harris Poll.

THESE are the people that Democrats have to win back if the want to have a big blue wave.

By overwhelming margins, blue collar workers feel good about their employment situation, their future and the direction that the country is going.

Yes, the party out of power typically makes significant gains during midterms; but another dynamic that our media has failed to give much attention is that it is also very rare for American voters to vote people out when they feel good about economic issues and opportunities for the future.

Bottom line; THIS group of voters is probably the most important demographic insofar as determining which party is in control, and the data looks really good for Team Red.

I know that the House could go either way, but it sure doesn't look like we are going to see a massive turnover that constitutes a referendum against President Trump!

New Labor Day Poll Reveals State of Blue Collar Workers in America
86% Satisfied with Their Job; 85% Believe Their Life Is Heading "In Right Direction"; 51% Say the Country is Heading in the Right Direction
70% Don't Trust Elected Officials

quote:
America's blue collar workers may be one of the most optimistic groups in the country today. According to a new study conducted by The Harris Poll and commissioned by Express Employment Professionals, 85 percent of America's blue collar workers see their lives heading "in the right direction."

Sixty-nine (69) percent also say their local communities are heading in the right direction, and 51 percent say the same about the country as whole. That is 12 percentage points higher than among all Americans who say the country is heading in the right direction (39 percent), according to the July edition of the Harvard-Harris Poll polling average.

Also, I would like to address one point that leftists are likely to zero in on:

quote:
Low trust in elected officials

Only 30 percent of U.S. blue collar workers say they trust elected government officials and about half of blue collar workers (51 percent) believe that the federal government is pro-business (men more so than women, 58 percent vs. 32 percent). Blue collar workers are slightly more likely to identify with the Democratic party, 35 percent vs. 31 percent for Republicans. By a small margin, they think Republicans do a better job of helping blue collar Americans than Democrats, 39 percent vs. 36 percent. Nearly one in four (24 percent) believe neither party does a better job helping blue collar Americans.

YES, there is an amazing amount of distrust in "elected officials". That can not be discounted, but the reality is that this is nothing new and when you dig deeper into that sentiment, that distrust is almost always focused on the 'elected officials" from other districts and not "my representative"

So, since they distrust elected officials, they are going to vote for the elected Repubs.

Seems an odd thing to hang your hat on.
Also says that they trust republicans more than democrats in the same paragraph you quoted. . .

That demographic used to be overwhelmingly democratic

Here is my take, if republicans can keep the blue collar block and make gains in minority blocks, both of which look realistic and maybe even likely, democrats are in big trouble

The economy has two big problems:

1) A lack of skilled blue collar workers. That is reducing growth by 2-3%.with the amount of deregulation so far we should be north of 6% GDP growth.

2) the blue states have begun their slide into default. That will reduce labor mobility and slow growth further.

So, since they distrust elected officials, they are going to vote for the elected Repubs.

On the contrary. It is exactly the reason to hang his hat on.

It's the truth. The approval rating of Congress is below 20%. The reelection
of incumbents is above 85%. Folks only get to vote for the guy representing
their District. They usually don't have any problem with him, it's the other
434 they can't stand.

Thank you for the effort you put into this post.
However, I think we've all learned that polls are often far different than the final results.
What I would like to learn that will make a bigger impact is what is the percentage of voters from each party who turned out for the primaries?

However, I think we've all learned that polls are often far different than the final results.
This is an excellent point Here is why I trust this poll more than I would be inclined to trust others, this poll was commissioned by an employment agency to glean data to help them in making strategic plans for their business and had no political agenda driving the results

Republicans will maintain control of the House, pick up seats in the Senate and Trump will still be President.

Meanwhile the Moon Bats will still be marching around in their pathetic little pink pussy hats, howling at the sky and wondering why life is so unfair.

What you forget about is suburban voters. They are deserting the Republicans. The reason why the special election in Ohio was so close was a approximate 25% drop in suburban support for Republicans from 2016. There are enough suburban seats out there to give Democrats control of the House.
