Nobody is aborting an 8-month fetus unless it's horrifically deformed.

I agree, that if every woman used contraception properly and only had sex with men who are good father material, this simply wouldn't be an issue.

But in the real world. Women forget to take contraception, and have sex with men who are bad for them, and there's no much the government or the church can do about it.

Back when I was in the service, one of my fellow NCOs was dating this gal, promised to marry her and never made good on the promise. So to force the issue, she "forgot" to take her pills. This wasn't a stupid woman. She was college-educated from a traditional, religious, Asian-American family. But she made a very stupid decision, and then when she realized that this guy wasn't going to make good on his promises, she terminated the pregnancy in the 8th week.

(Confoundingly, she got back together this clown later, and the same thing happened about a year later. Because even smart people can be stupid.)
