Did... Did Congress just do something that the public actually wanted them to do, which wasn't an overreaction to public hysteria? I didn't actually know that was possible. I've only heard about this kind of thing from my grandparents.

Do they need to track data when ATT, Verizon, Google, etc are tracking everything already? Can't they just get the data from the private sector?
American companies have already sold our privacy to the Government.
