Sharpton was ordained a minister at the age of NINE years old? Sounds like anybody can become a "Reverand"...
they can.
Just add a following.
It's not as if the title minister is indicative of anything like an M.D. or Ph.D.
dimestore ministers are, well, a dime a dozen.
He graduated magna cum laude from Ouachita Baptist University, completing his bachelors degree in 2½ years before attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.[7] He has honorary doctorate degrees from John Brown University and Ouachita Baptist University.
Prior to his political career, Huckabee was pastor of several Southern Baptist churches in Arkadelphia, Texarkana, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He encouraged the all-white Immanuel Baptist Church to accept black members. He served as president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1989 to 1991 and as president of a religion-oriented television station.

And we are supposed to give them some sort of special respect and believe that they are pillars of Christian religion just because someone "ordains" them and they call themselves "Reverand"?
This is why a person's actual record is so important. Jackson and Sharpton's records are not so great imo, given their scandals. I'm not too impressed with Obama's minister either, given his racial bias. And although Huckabee is not all that impressive, as far as I can tell he at least has a decent ministry record.
True, it appears to be a rather subjective standard - not quite like the more objective standards that apply to say, Catholic priests. So I guess that it comes down to where you draw the line? How much less of a record must Huckabee have before you stop recognizing him as an ordained reverend? How much more of a record must Sharpton or Jackson have before you recognize them as ordained reverends?
For me, as long as they have been ordained by a legal establishment that ordains people, and they have not been officially stripped of their ordination by said establishment, I’ll pay them the respect of calling them reverend.
