Davis lacks the authority to make up religious tests that citizens must pass before they can receive state services.
Nor yours. Not your place to judge. She is not a Christian who lives by Christian values; she is a woman who is married 4 times and had a child with one man while still being married to another. To hold this woman up as someone who lives by Christian values is entirely hypocritical. An elected public official is refusing to do her job because of her religious faith.
Marriage licenses that should be issued are not being issued.
To those who support Kim Davis, what should be done here, precisely?
.
Do what they're doing now, find someone else to issue them. Not throw her in jail as an example to all Christians.

She's an elected official, making it that much harder to do.Straight question here, I haven't followed this story that closely: That would be fine, was she the only person there who could issue licenses? Why didn't they or she do what you suggest? An elected public official is refusing to do her job because of her religious faith.

When she refused to do her job she should have been replaced or fired. Easy Peasy.
Defending little girl molesting seems to be one of the Hucksters favorite missionsWas it the criminalization of Christianity when Jeff Warrens was sent to jail? After all he was following his deeply held religious beliefs. lol

Crap. Though she was a hired employee. Too bad.
She still can't do as she wants when its a court order.
She is one stupid ass.
She is in jail for disobeying a lawful order.I agree with Huck. Times are playing out just as the bible describes
So she goes to jail yet millions of criminal aliens crossing our borders get a pass.
Resist the mark

ASHLAND, Ky. (CBSDC/AP) — A defiant county clerk was sent to jail for contempt Thursday after insisting that her “conscience will not allow” her to follow a federal judge’s orders to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.
“God’s moral law conflicts with my job duties,” Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis told U.S. District Judge David Bunning. “You can’t be separated from something that’s in your heart and in your soul.”
The judge said she left him with no alternative but to jail her, since fines alone would not change her mind. A deputy escorted her out of the courtroom, although not in handcuffs, to be turned over to the custody of federal marshals.

I have. The first amendment explicitly forbids the government establishment of religion. Kim Davis tried to use the State to force people to abide her religious beliefs. That's government establishment of religion. And a 1st amendment violation.
Ass.
How many sanctuary cities are there again? She's an elected official, making it that much harder to do.Straight question here, I haven't followed this story that closely: That would be fine, was she the only person there who could issue licenses? Are Christians the new Blacks? Creating oppression where none exists?
I think so. Weak minded tools
She's not going to jail for her beliefs. She can believe anything she wants. She is going to jail because as a government employee, she refused to do her job, and when a judge ordered her to do her job, she refused the court order. Her beliefs are hers; working for the state, in a country with separation of church and state, and not doing your job is not legal. It has nothing to do with her religious beliefs as long as she keeps them separate from her government job--separation of church and state. That's one of the foundations of our country.Only a asshole like you thinks it is cool to toss someone in jail for religious beliefs. What next gas chambers?Davis is in jail, where she belongs.Really? I want homosexuals thrown in jail for gobbling dick? The intolerant one is, behind bars today...What about them? All things done before she found Christ. .... you intolerant progressives are funny to watchHow about adultery, kids out of wedlock, screwing one man while married to another and multiple marriages?
Your good "christian" is guilty of both.
Fact is, you're just another blowhard cafeteria christian, picking and choosing whatever fits your hate agenda.
Equality is winning, the people of the US are winning and your sharia law is losing.
Deal with it.

Ass.
Simple things escape idiots who support tyranny like yourself
Once a lying hack always a lying hack.As someone who has divorced three times, Kim Davis has done more to destroy the institution of marriage than a homo trying to get married for the first time.
It is that simple truth the hypocrites cannot swallow.
I would be upset if I worked in the same office as Davis and was told to do her job as well as mine as she sat there reading the newspaper. An elected public official is refusing to do her job because of her religious faith.
