I am getting into this baking...

Always been a savory cook, never baking or desserts.
A few weeks ago I started getting interested. So me being me I research the crap out of it and start trying.
Today we baked a classic Devils Food Cake with chocolate ganache frosting. OMG this is good...

And scored huge at WalMart... by sheer luck they had kitchenaid stand mixers on crazy sale... a $377 mixer on Amazon right now... I paid $229.

Kolaches are what made me try my hand at baking.
They came out great the first try,in fact my first try has been better than my last attempts.

Never heard of Kolaches?
When Germans migrated to Texas they brought Kolaches with them.
They can be sweet or savory.
Not a fan of the sweet ones myself.
They're a pastry filled with a variety of things.
My favorites are sausage and cheese and ham and cheese. They resemble pigs in a blanket only they're much better.

Oh those things... I just didn't know the name of them.
Indiana here... so not a thing here.
We are known for Persimmon pudding and sugar creme pie as far as desserts go.

It really isn't that hard, it is precise however.
Which is the BIG difference between cooking savory, and baking.
I have been a home chef for over 30 years, I don't measure anything.
Baking - you can't do that or the results will SUCK.
It is very precise.

I have also been a home brewer since well before it was cool, and that is also precise.
So kinda use to it myself.

Baking isnt that hard as long as you strictly follow instructions.
The Wife and I made a Rhubarb pie that came out perfectly,in fact better than the local House of Pies.
There's a gay guy on youtube that bakes some really good cinnamon rolls!!!
In fact they're the best cinnamon rolls I've ever eaten!!!
Highly recommend them.
