Zone1 I am stepping away from Judaism

You base your faith on what others so? Faith is between you and God. No one else.
I disagree where one’s elderly parents are concerned. Let them live out their days in peace rather than feel the heartache that would come from knowing their son has abandoned Judaism.

But if you abandon Judaism, then you’ve given the Jew-haters what they want: the extermination of the Jewish religion.

But he’ll never stop being a Jew. As Adolf Hitler gave a timely reminder to so many. And more than 80 years on, that fact still hasn’t seemed to have sunk in.

I remember a trip to Dachau- now an excellent museum. There was one section which imprisoned Roman Catholic priests. Because their parents had been Jews.

Technically, yes. But he is taking his sons with him, and the next generation of Jews. This is how the antisemites wipe out Jews.

Have you read the Nuremberg Laws? How far back they took it?
I believe to the great-grandparents - if one of your great-grandparents was Jewish, then you, your siblings, your parents, and their parents were all sent to the gas chamber.

But you are looking at it from a technical view. In practice, if three generations have no Yiddishkeit whatsoever, and this is duplicated all over, then the Jewish people die off.

And the Nazis win have won.

This can not be hidden. Nor sure what you are talking about with elderly parents. I am elderly, want to know the truth.
And Since my family helped on the Holocaust I would only say, “ Not in my name of the killing of innocents today. Noo different than 80 years ago.

I am a Christian who follows in the footsteps of Jesus. That is what my Church teaches, the reason I joined. We follow his word, which is Love, taking care of your neighbor.no hate or killing.

Preceding the Christian Bible:

In Judaism, the Torah commands, “Love your neighbor as yourself – I am God.” (Leviticus 19:18)

And you are spreading lopsided propoganda that goes only against Jews. The ICC is a very biased, anti-Israel organization, and that is your source for your “love”?

And what truth are talking about? I am saying that it is kind for a Jewish man, should he decide to abandon the religion (unfortunately), to wait until his elderly parents are no longer walking the earth so as to spare them the heartache. THAT is love.

And if by “truth” you mean Jesus, remember that that is YOUR truth. It is not the Jewish truth.

My Bible consists of the New Testament, the old is gone. Christ taught a new Covanant.
Yes, and again….that is according to what you have decided to believe. The poster’s parents have decided to be proud of their Jewish heritage and follow the truth that Judaism teaches.

And remember - the poster never said that the Jewish belief was wrong. He said he is sick of his fellow Jews voting like idiots against their own interests, and all the antisemites screaming hateful things.

The New Testament stands on the Old Testament. To not know and understand it would be like starting a trilogy such as The Lord of the Rings with the second book. What I love about the Old Testament is how the Law was introduced to humans. We do not start with teaching first graders calculus, but teaching them arithmetic and build from there. The Prophets--and Jesus--started with the foundation of the Law and raised up a beautiful structure from it--a structure that would fall crumble without that foundation.

Throughout time it has been God in our midst--and that is a story to be treasured not given up or forgotten.

From the standpoint of the morals and ethics that spring from religion, there is little to separate Judaism from Christianity, but there are three things, in my view, that create a Grand Canyon-sized divide:

  1. Jews will never accept the premise that Jesus is divine - equal to the Father and a part of one unified deity. The Messiah thing is secondary to this more important disagreement.
  2. Jesus died for "our" sins. It doesn't work that way according to Judaism.
  3. The Pie in the Sky. Although many Jews embrace the concept of an afterlife where virtue will be rewarded and evil will be punished, it is not a formal teaching, thus rejected by many Jews.
