The Moroccan Moslems were popular and were fighting against the evil Byzantine Empire mostly.
The Iberian peninsula was a leftover Roman hold out, was evil, and guilty of Crusades, Inquisitions, and Conquistadors.
The Aragon empire should have been destroyed because they were evil.

The Iberian Peninsula is in western Europe. The Byzantine Empire was in eastern Europe.
