Here in P.A. before WW2, Nazi sympathizers actually did sabotage railroad tracks a number of times. Authorities never actually caught or charged anybody but that was the conclusion and it seemed a reasonable guess. Toward the end of the war several confirmed Nazi saboteurs came to P.A. to blow up an important railroad structure near Altoona. They were caught and executed as spies after trial.
