All of the politicians from both sides of the aisle and the media talking heads, both left and right wing. Seem to be in agreement, that America must defend Ukraine from alleged Russian aggression. Some are even calling for US military intervention from launching missiles to troops on the ground.
They act like Ukraine is now our de facto 51st and deserves a star in the American flag. That all loyal and patriotic American's have a sworn duty to defend Ukraine as written in the US Constitution.

Dimmers want us in a war and the RINOs support it.

We shouldn't defend it. However, we can root for the Ukrainians over the invading Russians.

None of us non interventionists are going to complain too much if we slip them a couple of Javelins.

The possibility remains that if Putin is not held accountable for this action, he will continue to expand
into other sovereign nations. Somehow, he needs to be weakened without costing American lives.
Time to put your thinkin' hat on and try to see the big picture.

Ukraine is a complex place as it is just a buffer state. It has one of the worst corruption rankings on earth, right there with Sierra Leone and Niger and it isn't particularly important to the worlds economy.

The global support is fine as the country is friendly to the West and the government democratically elected. With so many problems at home in the West though, you can bet that support for direct intervention is much lower than it would have been, say 35 years ago.

We have to have leaders who stand on principle. These same leaders must also answer as to what policies they supported that placed the West in such a weakened position. In particular so many nations who pretended to be allies to America while happily supporting actions around the globe that ensured this weakening occurred.

This is a walk in the park compared to other potential future invasions.

This is interesting from the POV of a nuclear world war being the outcome. Otherwise, Russia is going to have to go home defeated.
Everybody are refusing to see the gravity of the situation, and that seems to be the media's mission to downplay the seriousness.

Ironically though, your words do hint on the fact that this is a war between America and Russia. At the least we should be able to call that right!

Many think it’s in our interest to look out for Ukraine.

Is that a state in Purto Rican territory ? (sorry Puerto Rico)

Many people here get all worked up and call anyone who isn't a supporter of Ukraine and agrees with Russia's incursion a traitor.
Several posters here called me a traitor using numerous expletives.
So I have to ask, a traitor to who? .... :dunno:

Yes, but why are America and Russia risking nuclear war for Ukraine?

I'm seeing it as one of the combatants' offensive and the opening salvo.

But unfortunately, there's no way of naming the two sides correctly and that being accepted.

I am satisfied with material and moral support, unless the Russians attack a NATO country. Then I am all in, of course.
Russia isn't going to attack a Nato country. That would put Russia up against the US and all of it's Nato allies.

But are you sure you want to see Russia defeated?

There's always a chance that Russia/Putin doesn't mean what they say about Russia's/Putin's resolve.

There has to be some kind of mutually agreeable peaceful settlement for both sides.

What will it take for either America or Russia to back down?

You’ve got to ask Putin that.

Putin basically has two demands that would resolve the situation.
#1. Ukraine is never allowed to join NATO as a member.
#2. That absolutely no NATO, U.S., or EU missiles, nuclear or conventional, are allowed anywhere in Ukraine.

That's pretty accurate, but I don't see how Russia will be able to get that much.

Maybe a better question would be: What does America want?

I can only see the world stepping in under UN guidance and the result being the Ukraine becoming a UN protectorate.

I see that possibly doing it for Russia but I'm not sure it could do it for America?

Other than something of that nature, it's going to require Russia to back down from using nuclear weapons to defend Russia.

Don't worry we are not doing a very good job of defending them...Joe is play acting as a defender of the Ukraine...they received a weapons shipment from us of used M-16 rifles with no ammunition to load them with....
