There are many political issues on this board where Jesus is either put on a pedestal or kicked to the curb.

When it comes to government and redistribution of wealth, the Left loves to site Jesus. There is no question that Jesus holds everyone personably accountable for their redistribution of their income. Where the Left falters is they think Jesus meant third parties could dictate how much money could and should be collected for the Poor. Jesus never mentioned a third party as an arm for the Poor.

Jesus said don't covet your worldly goods to the point where you're an asshole and therefore in peril of everlasting damnation.

"Coveting" means to desire someone else's worldly goods or their wife.

You can't "covet" your own wife, or you own goods.

Hmmm! Which Book was that in? Must be the 40th Edition! Or is it the Gospel according to "Occupied". Guess what Nobody cares what you think!

Almighty God has always been a hardcore conservative, have no doubt about that. He was theologically pissed when the Gay Community of Sodom wanted to engage His holy angels in assrapery. That's not "liberal" in any sense of the world. Libs believe that the homosexual residents of Sodom had every right to try and recruit these angels into their orientation. Almighty God thought otherwise.

The word simply means the desire to possess something and you certainly coveted the things you have before you had them.

The old testament God and his constant smiting has little bearing on Christian dogma until someone wants to justify war, death, greed or prejudice. Jesus said his word supersedes all that old draconian sharia type religious tyranny.

Where did Jesus say that we turn our wealth to the State for redistribution of wealth? Where did the State in the name of Jesus say that it would redistribute wealth? Doing so would be a violation of Separation of Church and State.

No welfare state existed at the time. People starved in the streets and looked to witchdoctors when they were sick. Things were much better then.

Your feeling that the poor do not deserve to be cared for by society is no different than any other materialistic sin that will prevent your entrance to the kingdom of heaven. Trying to qualify your greed with unanswerable questions is bullshit, you know what Jesus said you just choose not to listen. I never saw a hearse with a luggage rack yet.

I don’t covet worldly goods. Do you?
Of course I do, but I aspire to not let my possessions own me.

What kind of people let possessions own them, politically speaking? Liberals riding around in limousines, flying corporate jets and bringing entourages and egregious amounts of servants come to mind.
