I do not agree with some of their commentary but yes it is a good and needed organization as is PBS.
Both were a big benefit to me as a school boy at the time living in a rural area.

Very little air time on pbs is devoted to news or news commentary. Most of the anti-Trump comments being said are also being said by other news outlets. Trump is going after PBS because he can, not because PBS anti-Trump remarks are any worst than other news outlets. Even if PBS looses the federal funding they will still be on air with little change in programing as 85% of funding is coming from other sources.

If PBS were just a channel like Fox, I would agree with you but it's not. It has a diverse range of programming, including news, education, and cultural content, for all citizens which is why congress passed a bill to provide funding which BTW is going to make it difficult for Trump to cut off the funding. About 85% of funding comes from sources other than the federal goverment.

It is refreshing to find content of national radio and tv that is not being controlled by major corporation advertising.

The reason for the creation of public radio and television is obsolete. It was done when there were only three networks, all commercial, providing news. The thinking was that commercial news coverage would be compromised and the public needed an objective source. Now we have an infinite number of news sources.

Further, Congress has NO POWER under Article I or anyplace else to create or fund these organizations. Like the Department of Education, their very existence is unconstitutional.
