Keeping guns from criminals? This is one way to do that. Good form Facebook and Instagram.

Under pressure from gun-control advocates, Facebook agreed Wednesday to delete posts from people selling illegal guns or offering weapons for sale without background checks.

A similar policy will apply to Instagram, the company’s photo-sharing network, Facebook said. The policies announced Wednesday will be implemented over the next few weeks.

So facebook is scanning the content of every post, that's the only way to do this. Glad I don't have an account with them. Preventing their customers form conducting legal commerce, hopefully someone will sue their ass off.

Duh. It's called 'social websites' and anyone can scan the contents including the owners and rightfully so. Preventing customers from conducting ILLEGAL commerce is the subject here. Get your ass out of your head, will ya?

Damn, somebody actually bought into the hype.

Newsflash, Facebook didn't ban anything.

Moms Demand Illegal Mayors, or whatever the two merged groups are called these days, are declaring total victory in the Facebook/Instagram policy statement that any reported post featuring an offer to sell any regulated product privately will generate a reminder to sellers that they shouldn’t violate the law.
But the Brady Campaign swiftly sent out a letter to their supporters highlighting that the anti-gun groups didn’t get anything they demanded at all, and this is not in any way a victory. The thing is, the Brady Campaign is right on this, at least coming from a gun banner’s perspective.
Remember that what the Moms/Illegal Mayors were demanding was a total ban on any kind of speech/photo that might result in a gun sale. Here are a few screen caps from their campaign:

Feel stupid yet?

Hint, you should.

It's perfectly legal to privately sell a firearm without a background check, so once again you're full of it.

Facebook has always scanned its accounts for commercial opportunities and safety.
