I bet China does the same...

China went from socialism to good old fashioned autocracy/oligarchy about a decade ago.

The difference is their economy is actually still working, after a sort.

Venezuela's is in the shitter.

Yeah Socialism will work someday. Lol

I remember the left pointing at Venzuela and screaming see we told you it will work...lol

Name me one time the govt. of Venezuela didn't go in the shitter...

There are varying levels of the shitter, right now the country is out of the bowl and into the collection system.

Chavez kept things running via a combination of Oil revenues and charisma.

Maduro didn't pay enough attention to the Oil industry and he has the charisma of a wet towel.

But China is highly centralized and socialist..

Centralized yes, but they have been abandoning socialism for decades. More and more private industry and businesses, but they kept the people control.

The thing is I'm not sure if the people overall are that upset with the arrangement. The Eastern political outlook has always skewed more towards strong government leading a willing populace.

Spain has its own problems.

So what? Our banks have a modicum of government control, or have you not seen the occasional post from a big L Libertarian type spouting off about the Federal Reserve?
