Two points come to mind:

1. The Hoover Institution claims that the GOP is for small government. I'd like to see what data they were looking at when they arrived at that conclusion.

2. The Hoover Institution says that Progressives reject the Founder's belief that men in general are vulnerable to demagogues and will act badly if left on their own. It seems to me that Progressives count on the Founder's beliefs being true.

My take was that "men (or women) of integrity, Progressives naturally, would alter, modify or ignore the documents to create the "perfect union."
