what vote was 147 to 110?

The vote in Congress, which is composed of two houses, both of which had to pass the resolution.
147 Democrats voted against it. 110 Democrats voted for it. Remember here, the rightwing myth is that the Democrats were all aboard on the Iraq war. That is false. The resolution would have never gotten out of the House had the Democrats had their way.

Stop blaming the Democrats for the war you people wanted.

But the war turned out wrong. It could not have been the responsibility of the party of personal responsibility.

first of all, I am not a member of any political party. Second, I don't want war now and didn't then. Third, I simply asked when the vote you continue to insist was real happened-I can find no trace of those numbers. I did post the real numbers for you. Yes MOST dumbocrats were against it while MOST repugnants were for it.
That is still not a good excuse to make up numbers or attack those that question your statements with actual facts.

Unfortunately the Socialists have lots of new Taxes in the works. All they have done so far is spend spend spend. Now the time is coming for them to punish average American Citizens for their own corrupt incompetence. Average Americans are always the ones who get punished the most when inept politicians screw things up. These Socialists really have sunk many future generations to come. Now it's time to punish the people for their own terrible failures. How sad.

So we have a lot of right wing socialists out there?
Look at the spending history.

Yes the last nine years have been a terrible Socialist Nightmare. They really have sunk many future generations to come. Now they're getting ready to punish average American Citizens for their own corrupt incompetence. God help us. When will this Socialist Nightmare end?

I suppose that Senate debate demanded by the likes of Lurch Kerry and Broom Hillary, so they could jump on the "meeee toooo" war train in advance of the 2002 elections, was a figment of the imagination, too.

so average american citizens should not pay for their own corrupt incompetence?

I think they should Pay both for their own finiancial incompetence and their incompetent use of their votes.

To think otherwise indicates socialist attitudes.

How about we split the difference and have the tax until we have a balanced budget? Call it the "penalize me for passing debt off to my children tax".

That way it can pay for whatever we demand and will give folks incentive to actually have smaller government.

Or figure out a way to only apply the tax to folks who drive cars that don't somehow average 20mpg? We can call it the "Your excessive fuel purchases help fund the Iraq WMD programs we now have to pay our troops to go fight" tax.

Your ass.

How 'bout we cut spending across the board until we get a balanced budget?...Call them the "that's what you get for being gullible to believe all these socialists were going to give you everything you want cuts".

^ That.

Here is a simple solution. All gasoline purchases henceforth would require an application. Every gas station would by law be required to hire an ACORN Worker (this would help lower unemployment!!). The ACORN worker would review the application and determine the tax to be added. This would be done based on economic and social justice flip charts provided by ACORN. This would prevent the "tax" from being regressive and therefore racist. :clap2:

I just find it funny that thomas friedman, ONE MAN, suggests this and it somehow becomes attributed to ALL LIBS and how "libs (as a whole) want a $1/gal gas tax"

Why doesn't the government stop spending so much fucking money, why doesn't Congress forgo any pay increase for the next 5 years, and why don't they reduce waste and fraud in all areas of government and use that money to pay for the war?

The dems are talking about trying to reduce waste and abuse in medicare and the right is trying to use that to scare seniors in supporing the republican position which is to do nothing.

Which still gets me that the right, who is allegedly against socialized medicine, is claiming that they wish to protect socialized medicine (meidcare) as they are campaigning against it. LOL

So we are now revisting the war vote, what I find really interesting here is that apart from the few on the far right and few on the far left that claim the it was all republicans that voted for the war, as if democrats didn't seems to me to be somewhat a little off the mark. In fact by todays standards thats about as bi-partisan as it gets when it comes to voting in the House and Senate. The difference is, the few that because of politcial need ran from their vote and refused to support it after they made it. Yes, most everyone will agree the the need to go to War in Iraq was based on less than credible data, however that being said and the commitment made, at the time no one had that virtue of hindsight. I do find it interesting though that here you had a man who both democrat and republican alike , and the world condemned for commting genocide against his own people, and we seem to be caught up in a debate over Bush as if removing him were a bad thing. I find it troubling that some in congress would advocate for a commitment and have for sometime to stop the genocide in Darfur but yet at the same time condemn the presence in Iraq. Yes, Don Rumsfeld, and that crew that ran DoD deserve all the pointed remarks that can be leveled at them based on what can be called as some of the most troubling decision making ever made. However that does not mitigate the fact that this nation in the end removed from power a despot and murder that committed unspeakable acts against his citizens and if those that wish to run from the original decision in congress to make the commitment to remove him because of political reasons then let them and I will reserve my praise for those men and women who risked their lives to stop the genocide in Iraq.

Eurpope also has much better mass transit systems than the USA does.

Good point. Britain is a net exporter of oil yet they have very high fuel taxes. Also remember that most European countries are small by U.S. comparison.

We so quickly forget what Our Ancestors left behind to come here, and why.

What does freedom from religious persecution have to do with taxes on gasoline??

Oh come on now (sarcasm) you know that those repuiblicans who were part of that "socialist nightmare" are all gone and the the republicans replaced everyone of them in the last election.
NONE of the current members are the very same members of the republican congress who were guilty of being part of that nightmare.
You know that to be the case because if they were the same then the personal responsibility republicans would be holding them accountable for their past actions instead of giving them a pass even as they demand across the board cuts when they refused to do the very same when they had the opportunity.

LOL
