Marijuana Nullification on the Rise, Despite SCOTUS ruling!

Using this logic we must already be a nation of drunks. So what's the difference? Might as well legalize the drugs.

We legalized alcohol and spent the next 70 years fighting the effects of legalization. Drugs are much worse because a person can always sober up but the effects of drug addiction make that less likely.

Right, because alcoholism isn't addicting at all.

Not to everyone. The percentage of people who are addicted to alcohol is very small. Not everyone who has a beer or a glass of wine with dinner is an alcoholic or even gets drunk. Everyone who uses drugs, including marijuana does so with the intent of getting high (even if they lie about it).

Good thing you're here to tell us what everyone's intentions are.

We become a nation of druggies. Then what? The need for not drug using immigrants becomes greater because Americans are too impaired to function.

Back then it only took 14 years for the nation to figure out that the negative effects of prohibition are far worse than those of the substance itself.

You can infer their intentions from their behavior. If someone voluntarily takes drugs, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude they intend to get high. There is no other purpose.

And that couldn't apply to alcohol at all.

Tobacco does not impair cognitive ability and marijuana does.

Tobacco use raises blood pressure and creates a false "fight or flee" physiological response, which releases chemicals in the blood that reduce the users INR causing faster clotting. This causes plaque to build up in the arterial system and eventually a complete stoppage of cognitive ability - death.

The cost to treat tobacco caused illness is in the billions each year. The cost to enforce MJ laws is enormous and tobacco is highly addictive, MJ is habitual, no evidence exits proving it is addictive.

When was the last time someone got into a fight because they smoked a cigarette? The crane operator in Philadelphia murdered six people while he was high on pot.

Same old a-holes pretend to support the 2nd Amendment while they post wild nonsense about wanting to legalize the sale of drugs to your kids.
No one advocates selling drugs to your kids who can get all the drugs they want right now after decades of the drug war - and booze which is the worst drug on the planet!

When did anyone argue that people should be allowed to smoke grass while operating dangerous machinery like a crane?

You're ridiculous. No one suggested the heavy equipment operator intentionally caused the deaths of others as you imply in your non sequitur.

Your so full of shit it stinks from here. The same old assholes with their heads stuck in them saying the same old dumb shit. Drugs are illegal, and prolific and will remain prolific whether they are illegal or not.

The more illicit they become, the more lucrative they are, and the more deleterious the ramifications on society. I think all drugs are bad - especially that shit eli lilly pushes, but if they were legal, there would not be all the additional negative societal impacts! All that money wasted could be spent on education, and treatment.

People drink to get a buzz - who the fuck are trying to fool? " I had two beers officer " Look at the malignancy achohol has on society - if you criminalize it, you will only compound it by a large factor!

Who the fuck do you think you are telling people what they can stick in THEIR bodies. If you are worried about you kids doing drugs, I suggest that you rely on good parenting instead of the police to protect them, because irregardless of the laws - they will not be insulated!

Ask any cop which s/he would rather detain, a drunk or someone high on MJ. Drunks fight, pot smokers ask nicely if they can get a donut then fall asleep.

Same old a-holes pretend to support the 2nd Amendment while they post wild nonsense about wanting to legalize the sale of drugs to your kids.

Why don’t you find one single example of anyone here wanting to legalize the sale of drugs to minors. Just one little example.

Oh, and you might want to actually get some facts as to how effective those laws are at stopping youth abuse of drugs:

Why More Kids Smoke Marijuana Than Cigarettes | Alternet
Teens: Pot Easier To Buy Than Beer - CBS News
Study Says It?s Easier For Teens To Buy Marijuana Than Beer | NORML Blog, Marijuana Law Reform

As a teen, I ALWAYS had access to pot even though I never wanted it – did not like pot. Drinking OTOH, was harder to accomplish though we were avid drunk partiers :D

Will legalizing pot change any of that?
The studies suggest that they would but let’s go with the theory that there would be zero impact if it were legalized. The answer is STILL that you should legalize it as there is nothing good coming from the law at all. There is no positive at all with drug laws.

And?

That will always remain an illegal act. Legalizing a substance does not mean you get to use it in situations where it endangers others.
