No one cares about women's college basketball either. The women's championship games get a 2 rating if they are doing well. By comparison the men's finals get a 14-16 typically. It's just bad basketball that no one wants to watch. That's it. It's really not any more complicated than that. How popular do you think average to above HS varsity basketball games would be on TV? That's the level of women's pro basketball.

They already did worse than that with NFL and college basketball rules. It could work for WNBA. People like dunky-dunky and shiny objects.
