Mike Lee (R) has just introduced a bill that would fine or imprison any American who posts “sexual content” of any kind on the internet

Which schools have porn in their libraries? Are they public or private schools, and what kind of porn do they have?

Or......is this just more made up right wing bullshit from the blogosphere?
I see you don't actually follow the news - you watch CNN.

finally, we have a solution to inflation! thanks Mike! Wait...

The OP thread headline is a lie.

It falsely says,

“Mike Lee (R) has just introduced a bill that would fine or imprison any American who posts “sexual content” of any kind on the internet”

From the linked article as well as from the text of the proposed Bill itself, the scope doesn’t include “of any kind.” It focuses on images:

The full text of the bill, published by Lee, includes types of content that the new guidelines would apply to. Those types of content include:

  • Pictures
  • Images
  • Graphic Image Files
  • Film
  • Videotapes
  • Other visual depictions

And even then, it doesn’t necessarily forbid even nudity. It refers to an old obscenity case “test.”

Why does bakedbromide find it so necessary to lie?

You're right..................if Lee gets his way

Well, Lee will not ever get his way. Amazing. First Lindsay announces that he wants to ban all abortion everywhere regardless of circumstances right before the midterms, and now going into resuming control of the House, now Lee wants to ban all porn on the web? Never mind the door this could open to other future efforts to limit freedom of speech.

With all the really important things needing addressing from government corruption and tampering with elections, to Biden treason and crimes, to getting us out of Ukraine, getting the economy moving, inflation down, closing the border and rounding up illegals and tackling crime and lowering the cost of energy and food and shoring up our infrastructure, what next issue will the GOP latch onto instead to assure their total defeat again in 24-- --

-- -- maybe giving all student loan debtors 60 days to pay up or go to jail? Call for an end to Medicare and Social Security? What brainstorm is not too great for the McConnell GOP? :smoke:

That would mean that any guy who has sent a dick pic would be guilty. Same for a woman who has sent nudies of herself.

And...............with the definition he's currently trying to go with, even pics women send of themselves in lingerie would be considered obscene.
Obscenity is a subjective construct. I find their focused interest in and rejection of such content to be so out of touch as to be obscene to the masses.

It's not super high on the list but neither is it some non-issue.

That's not a moral issue so much as it is a scientific one. Plenty of men out there who's sexuality is busted because of porn. Meaning, they cannot perform with real women.

That's all I'm gonna say.

Since 1931, Congress has funded Braille Editions of several popular magazines. In 1985, The House of Representatives moved to stop the Library of Congress from continuing to produce a braille edition of Playboy magazine.

A political commentator of the time remarked:

"Congress has succeeded in taking Playboy Magazine away from the only people on earth who read it for the articles".

When a liberal tells a mom to stop reading a book in public because there are children present and that book is in those kids' school library, the liberal just made the mom's point for her - the book should not be in the library.
