Some recent end of the world movies I unfortunately sat through proved very disturbing to me, but they reveal some interesting possibilities for religious people. Most notably, everything you believe about G-d is utterly worthless.
"Seeking A Friend For The End of the World" (really ends at the end, kind of a bummer.)
"4:44 Last Day on Earth" (also really ends.)
Both feature solar flares frying the planet or something involving the Sun taking us out. But compared to threats we hear about from terrorists and enemy countries, or even a histile alien invasion, having the Sun do something is the absolute worst-case. There's no hope whatsoever. So what do you do if everything you know, everything anyone has ever made or thought is facing complete annihilation? Better hope there's a G-d because you're about to find out. But it puts that belief into perspective I think. Not only are you about to die, but so is everyone else, and the planet itself is going to cease to exist. ...But G-d loves you...Uh, ya.
