The big question is, why would those who wish to kill Jews, wish to gas Jews, and put Jews in ovens, if they could just stop feeding them, and let them starve to death?
That's clearly a far quicker, more efficient, and cheaper alternative.
Children in the Ghetto During the Holocaust
The Nazis greatly restricted the food supply to the ghetto. This caused a shortage of food, and widespread hunger.
In many ghettos food coupons were distributed. These coupons enabled the ghetto residents to get basic products like bread and potatoes. However, the food rations were too small and many people went hungry.
Those who had money could purchase expensive food in the black market, but most of the ghetto inhabitants were poor and had to search daily for food.
