Need More Proof the American Economy Is Bad For The Average Citizen?

It can keep you poor, or if you save it, can lift you out of poorness.
It took me 10 years to save up $20,000 for the down payment on my apartment building. It could easily have cost that much to maintain a pet. That apartment building lifted me out of poorness.

Well that's a super silly and false number.

And even then... that's 2400 a year. That's not going to make you poor.
Interesting how those who champion for the poor all the time have no clue what it is like to be poor. When you can't afford your rent or food for your children and have to go to food pantries, you don't have 2400 per year to pay for a pet. Why is it that those who champion for social justice believe that blacks and minorities shouldn't have pets?

It's an infection on the inside of the nail. Very painful (kind of like a toothache). They gotta cut a hole and drain it then it has to be re dressed every day and maybe a special hoof boot. Smelly, nasty, and labor intensive.
Geezus

There are a lot of poor people who own pets, buy lottery tickets, alcohol, and cigarettes.
That's right. Because it is their money to spend. You understand that money goes into the economy, right?

Tell us all your fetishes and hobbies. Then we can tell you what a moron you are for wasting your money on them.

I once went to the local Honey Farms ( a Ma. Chain store) for a gallon of milk. I was waiting behind an older woman who was sobbing at the counter. I usually like to mind my business but I couldn't help but respond to her distress. " What's the matter ? " I asked.... And quickly regretted my intrusion when she responded: " I just spent my whole check on scratch tickets".

I paid for the groceries that she had up on the counter and then I got my gallon of milk and left.

Maybe you could post a link to any law which states that every American must spend all of their money. I don't know of any. You're just jealous because some save their money (which does eventually get spent) and some spend all of their money every day. This is America. You have the freedom to either spend your money or save it. Some save money more than others. There is no law against that. Some invest their money to make more money. There is no law against that. I think it was you who said you saved 20K in order to purchase an apartment by saving your money you would have spent on pets.

Yep ... The other system is called socialism where all of your money spending decisions get made for you. We're inching closer and closer to that. Sometimes you can almost justify it when you watch what your neighbors do with their money. But it's the price we pay for freedom.

Yup. I actually get jealous of the rich. I also get jealous when people win millions in the lottery. I get jealous of sports figures who sign multi-million dollar contracts. And, I get jealous of other celebrities who are worth millions and billions. But, hey, this is America and some will do better than others. Some will do better than me and there are many that I do better than. That's just the way life is and as much as I'd like it if someone shared their millions with me, I don't expect them to, and I don't want the government stealing from them and giving it to me, just as I don't want the government stealing from me and giving it to those doing worse than me. But, socialism does make everyone equally miserable, something I don't want.

Social Entropy....
If you remove choice .... Which is sometimes very tempting to justify....you also remove the energy that propels the system. Proof: Cuba, Venezuela, Soviet Union, China .....

sucks to be you, going through life that way. But it does explain many of your post on this forum.

You need to learn to be happy with what you have

Yup. Some nut on here posted he was for socialism where everyone makes 400K per year and I asked him to post which socialist countries are like that. He admitted none. Yes, socialism does level the playing field to the point that everyone is miserable. I guess he thinks that's what we should all strive for.
