NJ criminalizes 10+ round high capacity magazines today

These are not "High Capacity Magazines". They are the STANDARD CAPACITY sold with many rifles, and handguns throughout the U.S. and world. What NJ, and other states have done in restricting magazine sizes is Unconstitutional, yet corrupt courts uphold this crap.

The states can defend it in the interest of public safety

Let the State of NJ defend in court how large capacity magazines are used in mass killings

Then let the gun lobby defend why a private gun owner needs a lager than ten round magazine

That’s the way it works

Let’s see how far the courts are willing to go in interfering in states rights
Constitution TRUMPS states rights....gave those away over 200 years ago!
You are still allowed to bear arms

What the court found:

"Today we address whether one of New Jersey’s responses to the rise in active and mass shooting incidents in the United States—a law that limits the amount of ammunition that may be held in a single firearm magazine to no more than ten rounds—violates the Second Amendment, the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause, and the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. We conclude that it does not. New Jersey’s law reasonably fits the State’s interest in public safety and does not unconstitutionally burden the Second Amendment’s right to self-defense in the home. The law also does not violate the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause because it does not require gun owners to surrender their magazines but instead allows them to retain modified magazines or register firearms that have magazines that cannot be modified. Finally, because retired law enforcement officers have training and experience that makes them different from ordinary citizens, the law’s exemption that permits them to possess magazines that can hold more than ten rounds does not violate the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. We will therefore affirm the District Court’s order denying Plaintiffs’ motion to preliminarily enjoin enforcement of the law. "....

Bravo to the Court. It is about time they limit gun magazines. Putting the public safety first and not gun lunatics. These are very reasonable laws except to the crazed fringe.

Shall not be infringed....
Imbecile, restrictions on firearms are not new nor have they persisted unchallenged. Such as:

Fully automatic firearms, machine guns, silencers, sawed off shotguns, sawed off rifles, etc...

Well you asses from N.J. voted that Commie Murphy in as Gov....you got what you voted for...after guns, your 1st Amendment is on the block when you don't agree with this rat bastar!

President Obama and President Trump were both right, Obama when he told us elections have consequences and Trump in his 2018 stump speech that a consequence of Democrat victories would be renewed attacks on the Second Amendment. New Jersey’s ban on high-capacity magazines has been upheld by a federal court, opening the door to door knock gun confiscation and making off-duty police officers subject to criminal prosecution. The inmates are officially running the asylum.

The law, signed by Gov. Phil Murphy in June along with five other new gun laws, gave New Jersey gun owners who currently possess the magazines in question 180 days to either surrender them, permanently modify them to only accept up to 10 rounds, or transfer them to somebody who is allowed to legally own them. The deadline is set to expire on Monday.

A lawsuit brought by the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs and supported by the National Rifle Association failed on Thursday as the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals declared the confiscation law constitutional. Any civilian caught in possession of a magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds may be arrested and prosecuted. Possession of such magazines after the deadline will be considered a crime of the fourth degree under state law and carry up to 18 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines or both.

Nearly all modern full-size or compact handguns and rifles sold in the United States come standard with magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition…

Judge Patty Shwartz, an Obama appointee, wrote for the majority that the law serves a legitimate public safety purpose…

I checked. Firearms are still legal in New Jersey. Unhinged apoplectic posters on this forum do not alter that.
As Sassy said, above!
Sassy is an imbecile. So are you for thinking she knows what she’s talking about.

The state needs to show they have a legitimate public safety interest in banning those magazines

A magazine is not a gun

Did you have a point, Jake?
Try to keep up Skippy

The thread title says gun confiscation
There is no gun confiscation

Sure, Jake. Sure.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
To which well regulated militia do you belong?

You can still bear arms

The state has always had the right to restrict the types of arms the public can buy. A magazine is not an arm

The title of the Op is a lie. Just like most of the headlines on your propaganda machine.
Franco Stein to the rescue....Commie scumbag let's just LIMIT YOUR RIGHTS!
Totally out of your mind gun Nut and a willfully ignorant provincial brainwashed hateful bad citizen.... Like most GOP voters at this point. Garbage propaganda is scary...

This will eventually go to the Supreme Court

In the aftermath of Sandy Hook, Parkland, Las Vegas......let them tell States they have no right to regulate the lethality of arms available to the public

Crazy liberal democrats can only confiscate your guns if you do nothing. Keep electing these a-holes and watch the Constitution dissolve before your eyes.

From what I read on social media. Nobody in NJ is turning in mags. They are laughing and mocking the governor on the internet forums. 89 cops in one of the police depts said they aren’t giving up their mags so arrest them and figure out who’s going to patrol while they are in jail. It’s an uenforceable law just like the Connecticut assault rifle registration law.

If you decide not to turn in your illegal magazines.....hide them

Just don’t try to use one at a shooting range, don’t try to sell one, dont get caught with them in your car, don’t try to use it

Has the same effect
So what your saying is don't freely exercise a Constitutional Right.

Just because we've had gun laws for a long time doesn't mean they are legal, nor constitutional. The Sullivan Act passed in NYC in 1911 was specifically to restrict newer immigrants, and minorities from being able to legally carry guns. It was passed so only friends on the Mayor, and elites could have guns. It still stands today. Totally unconstitutional.
