No taxes, none. Now what do we pay for, and how?

A simple question for all those radical anti-tax people.

When it comes to going to war, how is that paid for?
Repairs to public roads and bridges after a natural disaster?
A standing army and navy?

Okay, let's hear it.

I don't know (or rather want to explain). Why don't you read a history book to figure out?

No thanks. If you can't tell me, I don't care.

And BTW, I know the history. We don't live in history, we live now.

Well, you could also ask the nations far more tax free and recently successful than USA.

How did they do it?

They lowered taxes. Wow... You do know that taxes have a negative effect on the economy. You just lower them and the rest seems to be handled almost magically (this unfortunately works also in reverse, explaining why the country has gone to shit).

Bush lowered them, it got worse. JFK lowered them, it got better. Clinton raised them, it got better. Reagan raised them, it got better.

Now, what could all that mean? Maybe, just maybe, taxes aren't a light switch or a magical fairy wand.

Who says there should not be any taxes?
Norman, Bripat. A few other loons.

Nobody but lefty loons ever talks about "no taxes". And speaking of lefty loons and you chime right on in.

Lie
Really? Normal might be a bit better but Bripat suggested the military hold a telethon for their cash.

You know there is actual science behind the rather obvious claim.

What Is the Evidence on Taxes and Growth?

Out of 26 studies 23 found that taxes are harmful (others neutral or sample too small to be statistically significant). Whew, it turns coercion doesn't work. A child would know.. (if not raised by a regressive, who obviously would spank their kids or worse).

With no taxes do we get incredible growth? Great, but I'm still not sure how without taxes we pay for things?

Adam Smith was against taxes on wages, but not rents and luxuries and property BTW.

Okay, let's hear it.

Congress has the power to levy taxes to support its limited Constitutional mandate. Anything outside of that mandate is unconstitutional.

So, give us your list?

Is the FBI in there? CIA? FAA? The Air Force? NASA?

I am not sure if you are serious, but obviously the answer would be that without taxes people would voluntarily pay for things they want.

Now, whether that works is a different matter. I don't see why it wouldn't work, and neither do you considering that you haven't formulated an actual argument for why it wouldn't... we will possibly find out in our lifetimes as projects like seasteading take off.

Wrong.
Bush lowered taxes and tax revenue went up.
JFK lowere taxes and revenue went up
Clinton raised taxes and revenue went down
Obama raised taxes and we have the worst growth in history.

Again who is calling for no taxes?
