• Independence can be a stand, but more usually, it is a lack of commitment. An inability to decide. An excuse and justification for lack of involvement.

In the end, both parties have their flaws, but if you favor neither, you favor nothing but discontent and idealism which gets you nothing, because in the final analysis, ONE of the parties is going to win and the Left have gone so far extremely over the top in radical, socialist, anti-American ideals that there really is no choice left but to vote GOP if not for them, at least to vote AGAINST itinerant stupidity and anarchy.

Yes, we remain mostly forced at the voting booth to choose one duopolist candidate or another, else cast no vote at all. Refusing to accept that sad reality as sufficient democracy is a stand. I've been independent since Clinton outdid Reagan at being a Republican in his first term. Unlike you, I see myself as far to the left of the two warmongering, Wall Street pimping, corporate owned, major Parties of today. I remain standing squarely with the vast majority of the American public on most major issues; all still institutionally fucked out of any straightforward means of helping improve anything

We continue to believe in and preach voting to be a good thing yet are nearly always blocked from making a good choice at the booth. We're handed a selection of candidates no one really wants time and again. Told we must "vote AGAINST" so and so and "FOR" some "lesser evil." Sorry, but that's always simply been a recipe, a poorly considered rational, for actively and deliberately making things worse than they already are. A race to the bottom. I stand with those who believe we can and must demand better. To get to that promised land where we actually get to choose from a selection of people we can feel good about representing us.
