In the good old USA, nuclear waste coming out of bomb-making activities was treated much more cavalierly than anyone outside that community would have imagined. We, the U.S. taxpayers, have been paying billions of dollars to clean up Hanford (Washington) for DECADES, and it's still not pristine.

One can only imagine how they handled those materials in the USSR, where respect for human life was almost non-existent.

for example, education and healthcare given for free of charge among other things like security etc.

Different people have diffferent resistance to propaganda. But most people also have some level of basic things, which they believe, don't think to check them and use as start point to thinking...
