He singled these two out to give medals to. It's crystal clear why. Whether they deserved the medals isn't so much an issue. Often times the most deserving never get them. Sometimes awards are given purely because of rank or how well you sell the thing. Even in Special Forces the NCO does all of the work and the officers collect the medals. I've been put in for medals and because I wasn't the right rank or in the right unit I didn't get it.

In this case one of the recipients had already been awarded a medal (Distinguished Service Cross) for the same act. Obama decided to give him another simply because of the politics of it. Clinton gave him a Purple Heart. I would think that Bill Clinton was as good a judge of his valor as Obama. He didn't seem to think he deserved one, or he would have given him one.

I don't believe medals should be given posthumously....the officers at the time made their decisions based on anecdotal testimony of the subject's actions and that assessment should be honored. Giving out awards years after the fact shits on the officers who made their decisions from fresh after-action reports. Once again Obozo proves he's nothing but a political hack.

Then you should have complained a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago. And a large number of Medals of Honor are given posthumously because people die doing incredibly brave things. You have a problem with those too? Or just because President Obama is giving them out?

That's nice how our president was willing to right the wrong perpetrated on our war heros back in the day. If the president somehow politicized this ceremony, a ceremony that should have taken place decades ago than shame on him for that. My hope is that he didn't.

I agree. I don't care about Obama's motivations or his political grandstanding. What Obama does cannot diminish the valor of those who served with such distinction. Those men deserved the MOH and it is fitting that they received it. My only complaint is that it took so damn long.

Barack Obama hates Jews, that is simply fact.

democrats are the party of divisiveness. democrats seek to drive a wedge between people and divide America into thousands of warring factions. So democrats need to separate identities, to make that people view themselves as Mexicans, or Jews, or black - but NEVER as Americans. Hillary is in deep shit, and has almost no chance in the general, she desperately needs every little balkanized faction. Obama's open hatred of the Jews has pushed many traditional democrat voters away from the party. This is a form of outreach in hopes of reconnecting the radical left and the Jewish community.
