Ohio Supreme Court to Republicans,

No, you will NOT suppress the black vote! Not on our watch....

All you self-professed "law & order" types on the right and Republican side need to strongly condemn this Republican voter suppression.

For the simple fact that it's unconstitutional.

Suppress the black vote? They axin' you for ID?

Democracy defenders on Wednesdaycheered a ruling by the Ohio Supreme Court that invalidated Republican-drawn state legislative district maps, which a majority of the justices found were unconstitutionally gerrymandered against the will of the state's voters.

"The General Assembly maps entrenched a GOP supermajority and flouted clear partisan fairness requirements in the Ohio constitution."

Don’t get to pick your voters this year? That must be tough.

Judges generally do the right thing. It was clear from the beginning this was going to be the outcome here.

Until we allow them to be randomly computer drawn up, we are going to continue to have this crap.

The only real victory is when ALL of gerrymandering goes away. The bullshit behind this story is that it is presented as though only Democrats engage in gerrymandering.

We have to change the system under which these thugs operate.

You're talking about these thugs too, right?

Both parties. All parties. All of them. The system is broken across the board.

I don't belong to a tribe for which I have to spin and bullshit and attack.

You might not understand.

They really need to do that in all the states.

LOL.....only applies when the Rep's do it.....

Sen. Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) and Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-Akron), the two Democrats on the Ohio Redistricting Commission, issued a joint statement saying: "The court’s ruling today confirmed what Democrats have been saying all along: the gerrymandered maps created by the majority are unfair, unrepresentative and unconstitutional."

Randomly, that's not the way election boards are suppose to set up their districts. Redistricting has only three rules to it : 1. Equal populations, 2. Preservation of existing political communities, 3. Partisan and racial fairness.

By the way, how did the GOP Jim Crow 2.0 work out in the recent Georgia election?

I thought I read people were turned away in droves.

The courts decisions have been going on in just about every state, every time one or the other party ends up in control.

We have a saying here in the Midwest, " if it ain't broke, don't fix it. " There was no fraud in the 2020 election, everyone and all the research tells us that. So Republicans are trying to change things for another reason, and some of the changes they've made make that reason very obvious.

Well Stanley, when the winning party takes over in a new term, one of the first things they do is start gerrymandering districts to their political advantage.
