In July of this year, oil production reached a record high over the past 27 years to 8.5 million barrels per day. This is even more than forecasted previously. As stated by the Department of Energy, the development of new fields and the use of technologies for extracting shale hydrocarbons helps to increase oil and gas production, while reducing the consumption of imported petroleum products the United States.
But it seems strange, that they have decided to increase oil and gas production just now. I wonder how it is related to sanctions against Russia? Maybe the government wants to force the European Union to abandon the Russian oil and fully provide Europe with fuel? In that case, why we have not done it before? Why did we not touch our reserves to preserve it?
