Lies. But Democrats tripped them up by offering substantial — almost unheard-of — concessions on immigration policy without insisting on much in return. Now it is Republicans who are rapidly abandoning a compromise that gave them much of what they wanted, leaving aid to Ukraine in deep jeopardy, border policy in turmoil and Congress again flailing as multiple crises at home and abroad go without attention because of a legislative stalemate.
The turn of events led to a remarkable Capitol Hill spectacle this week as a parade of Senate Republicans almost instantly repudiated a major piece of legislation they had spent months...
No one in the history of the US has ever been able to close the southern border to migrants. Do you have any idea of how to accomplish that?I don't think so. Americans aren't big proponents of sending billions of dollars to Ukraine and Israel to keep funding their wars either. Additionally, it makes no sense to me to continue to allow migrants to cross the border when we have millions here we can't even process due to backlog. The border needs to be 100% closed to migrants until we get caught up and have a realistic way of dealing with this.

Crossing over is doing well because a large portion of our border guards are on the take, and always have been. Why not supplement a $17/hr. wage with $3600 per car load of four people. It will never be 100%. People will find a way to sneak through, but in the meantime we shouldn't be willingly letting anyone cross over which is what is happening now.

Oh yeah, sure. You're probably right. It's not the guards, it is the administration policy.
Pass the damn bill, dupe.Congressional Republicans thought they had set a clever trap for Democrats that would accomplish complementary political and policy goals.
Their idea was to tie approval of military assistance to Ukraine to tough border security demands that Democrats would never accept, allowing Republicans to block the money for Kyiv that many of them oppose while simultaneously enabling them to pound Democrats for refusing to halt a surge of migrants at the border. It was to be a win-win headed into November’s elections.

“A year ago they said, ‘We need a change in the law,’” said Mr. Lankford, frustrated by his Republican colleagues who had been up in arms about the border situation only to suddenly reject the new legislation. “Now the conversation is, ‘Just kidding, we don’t need a change in the law. We just need the president to use the laws they already have.’ That wasn’t where we were before.”
On the Border, Republicans Set a Trap, Then Fell Into It
The G.O.P. abandoned a bipartisan border security bill that also aided Ukraine after Democrats called their bluff on immigration, agreeing to tough measures Republicans demanded.www.nytimes.com
Looks like Biden and the Dems are playing 3-D chess while the poor Republicans are still trying to figure out the game. Is there anything the Repubs can get done? Heck, even their attempts to impeach the president or Mayorkas have gone aground.
End the stupid war on drugs and try treatment and a real mental health system. Tax the rich again and invest in America again duhh.... And the wild West is over, grow up....Arming the citizenry is STUPID. Like the new total bs GOPIt's not the guards, it is the administration policy.
Pass the damn bill, dupe.
Maybe we should stop wrecking their economies with sanctions....and their climate for that matter....It will never be 100%. People will find a way to sneak through, but in the meantime we shouldn't be willingly letting anyone cross over which is what is happening now.
Wth is wrong with you dupes? LolThere is no bill.
No, not “til we get caught up”… closed period.I don't think so. Americans aren't big proponents of sending billions of dollars to Ukraine and Israel to keep funding their wars either. I agree, stop all aid period.Maybe we should stop wrecking their economies with sanctions....and their climate for that matter....
We’re asking the same of you freaks…Wth is wrong with you dupes? Lol
Wth is wrong with you dupes? Lol
You are delusional if you think dems are scoring ANY wins in the border wars. You guys are in deep shit. Your policies sucked and Americans fucking hate the results.Congressional Republicans thought they had set a clever trap for Democrats that would accomplish complementary political and policy goals.

Ukraine funding wont even be taken up for vote in Congress. No funding for these wars until the border is secured. This will be our winning position all the way up to the election. You guys are fucked.Part of the GOP opposition had to do with the Ukraine/Israel funding
Dems stripped that out and offered it up separately and low and behold… it passed
So that was a lie and the opposition was ONLY about solving this issue
Trump very loudly came out against the bill and Lankford noted that he had received a call from a nationally syndicated right wing radio host telling him that the bill should not pass because it would take an important issue away from Trump and threatening him politically.
Lankford of course ended up voting against his own bill
