Trump paid his attorney in the form of legal fees. Even if the accounting was incorrect, that was a misdemeanor. They must prove that Trump was attempting to cover up other crimes for it to rise to a felony. The problem for them is that Trump had already shown a desire to cover negatives stories up well prior to his presidential campaign to protect his public image and to shield them from his family. Why would this case be any different?

The timing of the NDA was essentially dictated by Daniels, not by Trump, in that she made the threat to go public 1 month before the election. I would argue that, based on past history, had Daniels made the threat 10 years earlier with the backing of the mainstream media, Trump would have done exactly the same thing or something similar to keep her quiet.

They don’t really have a case., they have a biased judge and likely a biased jury in a biased city/state. That is all they have.
