This was not an attempt by Hanks to "get news coverage." Someone interviewing Hanks about the movie asked him whether he would screen it for trump. He responded to the question as he did to all of the other questions put to him. He did not bring the subject up himself. Moreover, he did not mention anything but his own thoughts, so what is your assertion that Hanks thinks his views are "worthy of emulation" about?
Is there some law that, just because one works in a certain industry, like films, s/he has to approve of trump? I seem to remember something about Clint Eastwood and an empty chair.
I'm not a member of any "elite," which I think is just another wing-nut term, and I don't have any contacts with "Hollywood" outside of watching films, but I personally can't stand trump and I certainly would not want to interact with him.
It seems that "Self righteousness and self aggrandizement" are replete among Republican politicians and the preacher-creatures of the pseudo-Christian right, so it's pretty hypocritical to talk about folks in the film industry.
