Ohh bullshit. Dodd and Frank prevented new regulation for years and it led to the collapse. The “action” he called for would have made things worse.
Check out the Oxley bill . Bush gave that one the finger.
THAT would have kept F&F from getting onto the risky private market that screwed them

You are the one living in fantasyland if you think people are denied mortgages because they are black.
Not in my town.
I'm sure you've driven through Jesusville a bunch of times as a black man.
As for mortgages, check this out.. FROM LAST YEAR>
Bank to pay $31M for avoiding mortgages to minorities, largest such settlement in U.S. history
The Justice Department accused Los Angeles-based City National Bank on Thursday of discriminating against Black and Latino residents, requiring the bank to pay more than $31 million in what is the largest redlining settlement in history.www.pbs.org
The Justice Department accused Los Angeles-based City National Bank on Thursday of discrimination by refusing to underwrite mortgages in predominately Black and Latino communities, requiring the bank to pay more than $31 million in the largest redlining settlement in history.
City National is the latest bank in the past several years to be found systematically avoiding lending to racial and ethnic minorities, a practice that the Biden administration has set up its own task force to combat.
The Justice Department says that between 2017 and 2020, City National avoided marketing and underwriting mortgages in majority Black and Latino neighborhoods in Los Angeles County. Other banks operating in those neighborhoods received six times the number of mortgage applications that City National did, according to federal officials.
The Justice Department alleges City National was so reluctant to operate in neighborhoods where most of the residents are people of color, the bank only opened one branch in those neighborhoods in the past 20 years. In comparison, the bank opened or acquired 11 branches in that time period. In addition, no employee was dedicated to underwriting mortgages at that one branch, unlike branches in majority-white neighborhoods.
Note the article doesn’t say why they were being discriminated by race, other than they just weren’t loaning or advertising as much in these poor neighborhoods. The assumption, as always the case with guilt ridden liberals, is race. The reality is that it is about economics.
The bank “avoided marking and underwriting mortgages in majority Black and Latino neighborhoods”.
Banks are greedy, remember, or do you believe that their hatred for black people trumps their desire to make money? If they believe the risk/reward is in their favor, they will jump on it. If not, they won’t. Do you actually think executives sit around thinking “I know we can make a lot of money in that neighborhood, but let’s just avoid it because black people live there and their money doesn’t spend the same”. I can promise you there are economic reasons why they chose not to advertise or lend as much in these neighborhoods. If they do choose to lend in these higher risk areas they are then accused of predatory lending because the rates are higher to account for the added risk. What you and others like you want is for private banks to implement the tenants of CRA in the name of fairness and will sue when banks choose not to take that risk. You people never learn.
This case was tried in CA, so like NYC, so everything must be taken with a grain of salt. They don’t care about the law, just implemented what they perceive as some sort of social justice. The corrupt Biden DOJ had something to do with this as well. That says it all.
Yup. That's racism, buddy. You can call it economics. If you read the article, you'd see other banks DID open branches and wrote mortgages in those neighborhoods, so there was some profit to be made. This company deliberately discriminated.
So once you can't deny something is happening, you move right on to excusing it.
So in short, after denying racism, you admit it.
And this is the problem. The racist is not just the white trash loser who flies his Confederate Flag over his double-wide like that's something to be proud of. It's the rich guy who decides that he doesn't consider it worth it to give the black person a job or a loan or the benefit of the doubt.
You mean- gasp- someone held the rich to account? I know that horrifies you. I'll bet you cried when you heard CEO Thompson got shot.
Just to sum it up, you think that this bank decided to forego income because they don’t like black people?
The stuff you morons believe continues to astound me.
