I'm interested to hear what folks think about this lawsuit, the outcome of which could have serious ramifications.
If you are not aware of it, I suggest you read up on it, it's very interesting.
Summary of the backstory:
1. Sun Microsystems developed java, but always supported it's use as an open source platform. Java is in a ton of shit we all use.
2. Oracle acquired Sun earlier this year.
3. Google's Android platform uses java.
4. Oracle is claiming that the Android platform's use of java infringes on their intellectual property.
If Oracle wins, it doesn't stop there, because countless other technologies also use java.
