Informative video that debunks the assertion that somehow slavery in America was unique. Fact is we all descend from slaves. Throughout history slaves all over the world were treated extremely harshly, some treated better than others.

The radical left probably won’t watch the video. They will continue to engage in their rhetoric.

I’ve heard the more arrogant radical lefties say “who cares about slavery that occurred in Africa or Asia, This is America”

Fact is Crime has increased in the black majority communities 800% between 1963 and 1993. History tells us During this time racism and segregation in the USA lessened and went away entirely wrt forced segregation.

And of course the many poor homeless white men in this country…. how would they feel if reparations were paid out to folks because they’re black.

Why are you all worrying about morality NOW?

Some of the more arrogant radical lefties will say “you white people enslaved us. This is your fault” as if a modern day white person today in slaved the black person 200 years ago in America. No different than a white man going up to a black person saying “you Black people enslaved me 200 years ago this is your fault”

There’s also been decoration among white majority communities in various aspects since the 1960s. And so the last thing we need is this idea of reparation payments to black Americans for slavery in America.

It is important that political leaders and people in leadership roles in general in America do not preach that we should have reparations. Because inevitably what it would do is foster a criminal environment, where upon people who feel that they deserve reparations …then go out and commit crimes because if they haven’t received their reparations yet, maybe they think they are entitled to steal money from others for their people for their own gain.

When radical left-wing politics got into our school system, race relations have gotten worse.

I learned a history lesson about Ottomans enslaving Europeans. Slavery, bad behavior, and sinfulness are not unique to skin color, ethnicity, religion, or anything like that.

The history and context of slavery around the world is not relevant when discussing how we should treat our history with slavery and what we should do about it's impacts today.

Slavery here was not unique, more or less brutal or even fundamentally different than slavery practiced in many other places. None of that changes its effects here. None of that changes what actually happened. None of that is material when looking for solutions.

Of course it’s a critically important point.

Slavery being a worldwide institution is of the upmost importance to the issue at hand. The whole world would perhaps be in chaos if reparations had to be paid out all over the place. America as a leader needs to set an example for the world. And that would be by engaging in historical facts and the truth acknowledging that reparations is not the way forward. Treating everybody equally in 2024 is a good starter.

Reoperations are another story but no, the case of slavery in the rest of the world is not relevant. I don't care and you should not care what it would do if US policy was followed by the world, they are not the US.

If property US property rights were followed around the world many nations would outright collapse. We tried implementing a US democratic concept in Iraq and it fell apart. Many, many US policies work here that other nations are not ready for or have the resources to support.

The fact that other nation have had or still do have slaves is not relevant to US policies.

What problem do reparations solve, and would recipients be allowed to continuously moan about it after receiving fat payouts from Uncle Sam? Who will pay for it? Who would qualify for it?

The British had another take on the emancipation of slaves. They gave financial compensation to the OWNERS of the slaves, whose "property" was taken and rendered worthless.

So are the families of the slave owners entitled to anything?

Should the descendants of enslaved people pursue their damages against the descendants of the slaves owners? Why should innocent U.S. taxpayers pay this cost?

You’re losing it buddy. There is a reason why various empires and movement of history are recognized all over the world for the good they have done. The positive aspects of the Roman Empire, Egypt an ancient Greece.. as well as the Magna Carta from England. The very foundation of the USA has been influenced by other countries of the world so your argument therefore is flawed.

But it’s also perhaps an inhumane argument to say “it doesn’t matter” as if the human struggle of somebody being a slave in a different country other than America doesn’t matter.

It’s a very simple thing reparations according to your logic would have to be paid out all over the world because slavery was a worldwide issue. This would set in motion an economic disaster and probably civil wars through the world.

So you have nothing but generalities.

Not surprising that you cannot actually articulate a point.

Why are whites making these kinds of comments after being given trillions of dollars worth of economic assistance from the government that blacks were denied and yetthey still ask for more today?

They should not but then again no one even understands what 'reparations' even means.

Only surface level bullshit ever focuses on paying anyone anything, that 'policy' is past dumb. Most of the time recreations is seriously talked about it is about investments in specific communities because that is the only concept that can be remotely put into policy terms. But no one here wants a conversation, they want partisan games.

This OP is ridcuous.

This is untrue.

And of course the many poor homeless white men in this country…. how would they feel if reparations were paid out to folks because they’re black.
If poor homeless white men were excluded from opportunity by government policy , they should sue for reparations. But they can't because white men get the most preferences and if they are poor and homeless it actually is because they made poor choices.

The problem with the argument is that people disingenuously attaches them to slavery and have ignored the 100 years past slavery, or continuing racsm today.
