This was not an agency problem. Rarely due to law can controllers be blamed. We pilots must obey the law and the law tells us we are in command and will fact ruling against us for collisions. The party at fault in this case is the pilot of the helicopter. The media has put the blame on Trump.Trump started screwing with all agencies of the Federal government, and you wonder why things go wrong?

Please discount what the media says. They put the blame now on Trump. I have been with Air Traffic Controllers and normally there are enough there to do the job. They may need newer electronics. I think Trump mentioned that. Trump blames the helicopter and not the changes made by Obama or Biden. His commentary did include those changes but his focus was on the flight of the helicopter. We all can see the video that shows that the helicopter violated the air space of the passenger plane. It was like the helicopter flew directly into the passenger plane. If you think not, watch it several times.they were also understaffed. there's no way the traffic controller was communicating sufficiently with both aircraft.
I pay almost no attention to the media. First of all, they are pissed at Trump. As to enough controllers, as time passes and experts evaluate this, we will learn if experts make that claim. If they do, it will be based on facts. I am a pilot. I have been into the government buildings with air traffic controllers. They can manage more than half a dozen flights. Maybe more than that. The helicopter pilot said he saw the passenger plane. He looked to aim right at it. And both aircraft dove into the river. The helicopter pilot had the duty not to collide with other aircraft. The passenger plane did not hit the helicopter, rather the helicopter hit the airplane with passengers. Bear in mind, the passenger aircraft was already on the path to land. It had total rights to the air space in order to safely land. The helicopter however was not on a correct path. As the crash shows.they were also understaffed. there's no way the traffic controller was communicating sufficiently with both aircraft.

A clue from a pilot. Do not put stock on the media. They are political as hell. The investigation done by competent crash investigators will later explain that to all of us. I know that things improved a lot since I was in with the Air Traffic Controllers and then they could control a number of airplanes. I never asked them how many but was watching their screens that as I recall has perhaps a dozen of more flights on each of them. Keep in mind that those on the screen were not very close to each other and some were many miles apart. That was 45 years ago.The Biden Admin has been running things without any opposition from Trump for the last 4 years. There has been a history of several near misses for the last couple years... where has the concern been? what had Bidens people in charge done to address anything?
